A U.S. citizen sought out a police officer for help and was detained instead.

Then the Department of Homeland Security’s official X account lied about what happened.

Sometimes you just have to ask—why? The Senate voted to strike down a rule capping most bank overdraft fees at $5, a measure introduced by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that was expected to save Americans billions each year.

Republicans in the Senate voted tonight while no one is watching to fatten Wall Street profits by jacking up overdraft fees on you.

So much for lowering costs.

ICE agents are attempting to enter DC public schools today, have been turned away at least one school so far.

Senate Republicans would rather you didn’t find out they just voted to give the biggest banks billions in profits from overdraft fees that kick working people when they’re down. Disgraceful.

Meanwhile, every Senate Democrat voted against it.

New students for me, too! Feels kinda disheartening to start all over again. Most teachers in my building have year-long courses; they’re not very understanding in my new struggles. But I’m trying to think of it as an opportunity to show more families how valuable my curriculum is for their kids.

I try to finish every Friday with this, and any other day I end feeling defeated. It reminds me that MOST of my students and parents are supportive and appreciative, and leaves me feeling good about the relationships I am building.

Sadly, Indiana legislators already introduced a bill allowing schools to deny registration to students without documentation of legal immigration status.
