Kaplan-Meier plot showing the relative bleeding risk between rivaroxaban and apixaban over 90 days, clear separation and clearly higher risk from rivaroxaban
The end of the road for rivaroxaban? Shows how important direct comparative trials among drugs within the same pharmacologic class are. #emimcc #cardiosky www.nejm.org/doi/full/10....
Cool, tanks Joel
That is cool. Shame they didn’t have a control group though
figure of albuminuria reduction with finerenone
Finally, FINEONE shows Finerenone
reduces albuminuria in T1DM

I don’t check labs until the next consult 😬
Cool, didn’t know that. Thanks Iain.
Only tried it once for that indication. Not sure it decreased the need for iv magnesium - so similar experienc.
Yeah it’s cool. I read a couple of case series on this - and I’ve tried it in hypomagnesemia in HNF1B - but what is the mechanism? @kidneyboy.bsky.social, any ideas?
Discounts could work too.
most likely we will see some kind of ai solution. I’m not sure it will be a good solution, but it seems to be the default.
Jama has written a good editorial on this jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...
I like this as a mechanistic article examining why #SGLT2i’s work, but I don’t agree that renal fractional reserve can be used to identify patients most likely to benefit from SGLT2i since I think almost everybody with DM2 would benefit from SGLT2i #nephsky

I’m sympathetic towards paid peer review. I think publishers could manage this without xtra cost for the authors if they wanted to, since they get most of their work for free already. But the article is probably right that it won’t happen
Glad to have contributed to this study, which has a very relevant clinical point: the BP lowering effect of SGLT2i of 4-5 mmHg is independent of renal function #nephsky #sglt2i
Sodium glucose transporter 2 inhibition maintains kidney antibacterial response by decreasing complement C1q

1/3 of Americans supporting a State agency murdering citizens seems pretty high to me
Still interested in the mechanisms of #SGLT2i? I did a video with #Vumedi going through our study on the effects of empagliflozin on fluid and electrolyte balance. check it out: www.vumedi.com/video/fluid-...

Always great news for my morning commute when a new freely filtered is released
Thank you for writing!
Getting an early start on this years christmas decorations. My wife won’t let me put it up at home, so I guess I’ll bring it to work. #Nephsky #medsky
Man what a time to be practicing! So many ecxiting trials… my money is on Piesces! That trial totally blind sided me
Good analysis, as always, though I’m not sure the administration’s aims are noble or admirable. they are cynical. This is not a proposal for peace but for surrender.
Copenhagen is different, politically, from the rest of Denmark though. The prime minister has been a social democrat since 2019 and there is broad political and voter consensus on a strict immigration policy for more than a decade + far right parties are mostly marginalised here

But really, should we give fish oil to dialysis patients? - THAT’S the key question
yeah I don’t think we really disagree on this topic, though it seems we would disagree on larger policy points
It would be better to find societal solutions to societal problems, sure. But as a practicing clinician this issue is a non-starter. We have to help patients within the existing framework. And Ozempic is great at that
😂 this thread has come a long way
Nice comment. Thanks
Congratulation, Kevan, on the study. A really impressive acomplishment.
