Awesome!
Ah, thanks for clarifying!
Through March 31, the number of grants awarded by the National Institutes of Health is down by more than half compared with the same period last year, a Post analysis found.
There are also fewer grants focused on womenโs health, cancer and mental health, the analysis found. https://wapo.st/48dWJWX
๐จ BBC has examined trade volume data on several financial markets & matched them to some of Trumpโs most significant market-moving statements.
It found a consistent pattern of spikes just hours, or sometimes minutes, before a SM post or media interview was made public.

Had this happen when I was a kid. In that case I think it was matchsticks left in a candle. Instant flame tower. The fireball when we, being kids, tried to put it out with water burned off my friend's eyebrows.
Happened again many years later, and I was smothering that thing so fast.
So scary!

Page 1 of a legal Judgment document from the United States District Court, District of Oregon for Case No. 6:25-cv-02409-MTK, filed on 04/18/26. The plaintiffs are listed as "STATE OF OREGON, et al.," and the defendants are "ROBERT F. KENNEDY, JR., in his official capacity as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, et al." The document is from United States District Judge Kasubhai. It outlines that final judgment is entered in favor of the Plaintiffs on Counts I, II, III, and IV. Item 3 states the Court holds unlawful, sets aside, and vacates the "Declaration of the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services RE: Safety, Effectiveness and Professional Standards of Care for Sex-Rejecting Procedures on Children and Adolescents".
Page 2 of a legal judgment document for Case 6:25-cv-02409-MTK, filed on April 18, 2026. The text outlines a court order declaring that defendants lack the authority to unilaterally establish standards of care that supersede professionally recognized standards for gender-affirming care in the Plaintiff States. It permanently enjoins defendants and their agents, including the HHS-OIG, from enforcing the "Kennedy Declaration" against providers in those states. The document is dated April 18, 2026, and is signed by United States District Judge Mustafa T. Kasubhai.
Huge news: the court has entered final judgement in Oregon v Kennedy (HHS trans youth care ban) and has vacated the Kennedy declaration and permanently enjoined its enforcement to target gender clinics.

Next up: sue the govt for entire US GDP.
This was 100% true for me. In college, reading Sharon's "Warrior" was a huge thing even after Said, Shlaim, Morris etc.
E.g. he just goes out and says we're inviting families out onto military bases to build settlements to ensure there will never be peace or a 2 state solution that returns land!

Give students a few analytical tools and half a chance to dive into the literature and data on topics they care about and it is always amazing to see what they come up with.
In 2003, US citizen Rachel Corrie was killed by Israeli soldiers using a US-provided bulldozer.
Her parents are calling on senators to vote yes today to block $295 million worth of these bulldozers to Israel. Join them by calling your senators TODAY:

TIMELINE CLEANSE!!! Thank you, Ennion, glassmaker of 2,000 years ago!
Ever wanted to assemble specific genes out of raw sequence reads? Try sharkmer, a tool for in silico PCR (sPCR) developed with @shchurch.bsky.social - academic.oup.com/bioinformati.... Feed it raw reads and primer sequences, it gives you amplicon sequences. Can work on a laptop in minutes.
Had a pretty good run of it, but back to zero again.

What I like best about the Artemis II photos is that it was taken by actual humans. An actual person had to frame it and manually adjust settings. It's their own artistic rendition of what they thought looked best at the time, something no probe, rover or unmanned spacecraft can take. it's art
๐ฏ. It is stagerring to think about how many brilliant and talented women are driven out of politics by this kind of crap. Cleaning house is the right thing to do.
I don't remember seeing an image of Earth before that captures the (thin, fragile, tiny layer of) atmosphere so clearly. I mean, look at that.
Great news! ๐
Also: Forget a government "run like a business". I want a government run like a library.
I also think Trump's erratic policy confuses media coverage & makes protest harder. "A civilization will end" led Indivisible to call for emergency protests at 6pm, at which time policy already changed.
That said, what ideas do you have to best protest this awful war (probably more productive)?
Zogby poll from link as bar graph. Early war shows 48.8% support, 49.31% against. Mid-war is 32.7% support, 66.1% opposed.
Iranian Americans per Zogby now mostly oppose the war, but were reportedly much more split initially. I think this combines with other factors (campus crackdowns).
It's not too hard for me to imagine rightly hating a repressive regime so much you wish for foreign intervention (that proves awful)
I mean trivially, for mass protest opposing war with Iran was a main reason given by No Kings protesters.

For civil disobedience, many ๐ต๐ธ protests were lead by Palestinian-Americans along with leftwing Jewish allies.
Polls say Iranians initially split on the war.

Not the main point here, but I do not ever recall a federal agency making significant programmatic and personnel changes as a result of the PRESIDENT'S BUDGET PROPOSAL, which does not change any law or funding allocations. Congress hasn't acted yet.
What are we doing here?
