Saskatchewan NDP government started a plan in 1962 and doctors immediately went on strike. They imported doctors and the strike was over in 23 days. Took until 1966 for the former premier of Saskatchewan Tommy Douglas to leverage support for a Liberal minority government to pass it nationwide.
