yes! it’s a proper ‘wow, karen’ moment when someone implies people believe you’re autistic because you’re ugly

We are not going to move the dial on disability unemployment or lack of productivity by restricting the already log jammed diagnosis system. We need to be more expansive not less. The neurodivergent community are unwell, not belligerent and demanding. We need medical treatment for inflammation and post viral syndrome, much of which is cheap and easy to obtain. We need some out of the box policy thinking, not more of the victim-blaming same. The neurodiversity movement was intended to drive career potential for neurodivergent people. We didn't want handouts, we wanted to thrive. The ADHD diagnoses are not wrong. But we need to start wondering whether it is the ADHD forcing us out of the workforce, or the poor health. Wes Streeting can look a lot closer to home for the solution to his, and the UK tax payer's, problem. We need joined up health care, not a motivational speech about how demotivated we are.

if this child has any therapists/teachers tell them the child lacks contingency awareness and ask if they can build a programme to address that. this can be overcome, though slowly

they’d been using FC for a minimum of one year! none of them could type their own name! they weren’t even expected to be accurate, anything near was to be coded correct!

There were notable similarities between Weiss's and Frankl's articles. Both described children who had difficulty integrating into groups and forging emotional connections with others. Both stressed the fundamental naiveté of the children's character and morals, and advocated benevolent care. Neither proposed a diagnosis for their behavior nor pathologized their traits. And neither mentioned Asperger as a collaborator in their work, although he was the director under whom they worked while doing the research described in their articles; Weiss credited Lazar, who had died six years earlier.

It is not clear that Asperger's generous sentiments applied to all children. Asperger lauded autistic youths whose intelligence, "astonishingly mature special interests," and "originality of thought" led to "high performance" and "out-standing achievements." Yet Asperger also warned that in many children "autistic originality can be nonsensical, eccentric, and useless." The latter had an "unfavorable social prognosis," even an "inability to learn."
