Folks, I know this isn't going to be a popular sentiment on this website, but I'm gonna say it: churches are not your enemies here.
Reddit atheism and Republicans have made you skeptical, I get it, but there are churches out there talking the talk and walking the walk.

My trips are almost entirely south of the Northeast Corridor (mostly ATL-CVS), so I wouldn't know myself, but I wouldn't be surprised if security was occasionally more stringent at NYP or WAS. Still, it certainly isn't a common occurrence. And it definitely doesn't happen on any non-Amtrak trains!
Conservative talk is popular because radio's demographics mean that folks with conservative leanings tend to be overrepresented in radio listenership. The format has pushed extremist views largely because airing those views are good for ratings.
Even if we're talking about terrestrial radio only and ignoring the new competitors, conservative talk is rarely your only option on the dial. It might be your only *political talk* option, but you'll usually have a combination of music, sports talk, Christian, public radio, and/or news available.
I have relatives in the radio industry and I'm familiar with how it operates. Consrv. talk is among the more successful formats out there even in highly competitive markets.
Also, as everyone in radio is well aware, radio no longer has a monopoly anywhere due to streaming, podcasts, and satellite.
I regularly make overnight trips on the Crescent (well over 25 trips in the past year) and have never once been asked for ID or seen anyone else be asked for their ID. Just not a thing that happens at all.
An interview with a man who does not board trains.
From what I can tell, KTLK no longer broadcasts Vikings or Gopher football. The only sports broadcasts there are Gopher hockey. Most sports broadcasts are on KFXN (both owned by iHeart).
Also, conservative talk is still quite viable as a format (on the AM band, at least), even without live sports.
Bands are just not hot like this anymore...
That's a shitload of container on flatcar. Wow
99% of modern security products are just some company going "would you like this app that gamifies paranoia" and you going "yeag" like just don't do it. just turn it off
Watching the Bad Bunny halftime show & I still can’t believe the Left got football in the cultural divorce.
It was a lovely vision of the country where our differences and diversity are celebrated. Flip the channel and you can see footage of different people being crushed and suppressed.
America!
Alt+0151 is pretty easy, imo
(Or alt+0150 for an en dash)
Today is the 52nd anniversary of the release of "Blazing Saddles," the plot of which involves business and political interests leveraging ordinary people's bigotry in an effort to obtain power and financial gain.
People like to say that that movie couldn't be made today. Shit, we're living it.
Jerry Falwell Jr (not a pastor, just the former head of Liberty University) is the (alleged) coke fiend with an interest in being cuckolded.
Jerry Falwell Sr (the pastor who founded Liberty University) wasn't into all that (afaik), but was an ultra-wealthy megachurch pastor with un-Christian views.
I get this, but here's where I'm at:
Trump & Vance are the worst of us. America is bigger than them, and they win if we let them define us.
Team USA is the best of us. It's filled with Americans MAGA hates—first-generation + immigrants, LGBTQ+ athletes, people of color—& I'm gonna root for them.

Even within a denomination, it very much depends on who you ask
Text of The New Colossus. It reads, "Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, With conquering limbs astride from land to land; Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame. "Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
Samuel Johnson once wrote "that man is little to be envied whose patriotism would not gain force upon the plain of Marathon" and I think the same can be said of any American whose heart does not swell at least a little at the words of the New Colossus inscribed on the Statue of Liberty.
Also, turns out that he's on this platform too (although the account is pretty inactive)!

More relevant and important political/protest songs for the crowd that insists artists aren't meeting the moment.
This first one from James McMurtry is maybe the best song released in 2025.

This one has been making me laugh for hours
In some countries the outbreak of bloodshed inspires the opposition party to call for the leader to resign
When you do observer training, they make clear that your role is to observe, alert, and DEESCALATE. Because escalating against ICE does ICE’s job for them. Thrill seekers looking for a riot create the opposite of what the successful mass movement of observers seeks to provide: safety, awareness.
So, basically, this table is pulling predictions from multiple different models, and current conditions make prediction difficult, so the predictions from the different models differ significantly in a way that makes it look self-contradictory. Right?
If so, that makes sense! Thanks for the answer!
