Here is my review published in Environment and History. I believe İnal's work makes a major contribution to Ottoman environmental historiography, linking urban and rural change, infrastructure and animal labor, and commodity production with migration. www.whpress.co.uk/EH/reviews/2...
Yine harika yazılarla dolu bir Toplumsal Tarih sayısı! Sevgili Gülhan Balsoy ve İpek Hüner'in hazırladığı toplumsal cinsiyet ve zaman sayısına kadınların gece deneyimlerini ele alan bir yazıyla katkı sundum. Diğer yazıları da çok merak ediyorum! Tüm emeği geçenlerin eline sağlık!
We seek studies that demonstrate how the night realm itself, as a temporal, spatial, and conceptual framework, generates novel insights about urban life, social relations, and historical change.
We are particularly interested in research that reveals how examining the night/day dichotomy opens new interpretive possibilities, challenges conventional periodizations, or illuminates previously invisible power relations, social dynamics, and spatial practices. ⬇️
We seek contributions that use “night” as an analytical category rather than merely describing activities that happen to occur after dark. ⬇️
I’m very happy to share our call for papers for “Illuminating the Dark! Night Histories from Byzantion to Istanbul,” organized by the Istanbul Research Institute and the Pera Museum. ⬇️

My contribution examines how coal shortages in occupied Istanbul shaped public utility services and reconfigured the relationship between politics, material and financial structures, and everyday life, producing new fears, challenges, and opportunities.
I am very excited about this forthcoming collection, to be published in June, and grateful to the editors for bringing together such an outstanding group of scholars. www.berghahnbooks.com/title/CoraOc...
