You’re in for a treat. She recorded some excellent albums. The covers one is perhaps inessential, but still a good listen.

You have to draw a line with Johnny Cash. The guy recorded about 70 studio albums, and there’s good reasons why most of them aren’t discussed very often.

The two live albums from San Quentin and Folsom are essential though.

I heard the album for the first time about 10 years ago. I was really underwhelmed. Sounds more like a musical theatre soundtrack than a classic rock album.

Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell - well that’s another matter. That’s a superb album from start to finish.

All of Michael Jackson’s albums. I’m probably should check them out one day.

Post-98 DM albums are always slow burners. Didn’t quite love it at the time, but it’s become a huge favourite since (excluding The Dead of Night).

Pink Floyd - Us and Them

This is excellent

I’m in the minority that likes Load, but 25 discs is too much for me.

The Dave Clarke Five. Sadly they get further and further into obscurity every year, because their catalogue has been mismanaged, but they were a huge part of the invasion.

He was the best drummer I’ve ever seen live.

I love this one. 90s Bowie was best Bowie IMO. Some editions have Lucy Can’t Dance or Real Cool World as bonus tracks, which would have made the album even better.

I’ve always said - if that were a Duran Duran album, it’d be regarded as one of their best.

It was re-recorded (except for the vocals obvs) in 2018. Well worth checking out.

I think it’s a very good album, but it’ll always be lost on most Bowie fans.

There was the ‘original’ version of the album ‘The Gouster’ bundled with a box set a few years ago. I like that version better.

1973 IMO was the best year ever in music. Followed closely by 1977 and 1994.

Rollins Band - Weight

#1994AlbumsTop20 it’s a crying shame, but there’s not much discussion these days about Rollins Band. The CDs are out of print, and nothing on streaming services. Hank himself talks more about Black Flag than his own band.

So take it from me - they were excellent. Hardcore jazz-punk and great tunes.

Marillion - Brave

#1994AlbumsTop20 one of the best years in music for me, so plenty to pick from.

Marillion returned to a darker, more complex forms and released ‘Brave’ early on in the year. It remains of their finest albums.

They made a film to accompany the album as well, but it wasn’t anywhere near as good.

This is one of my all-time favourites

It’s pretty quiet.

I’m in it for the long haul.

Alex Turner, now resembling Noel Edmonds

NB Alex Turner has quietly morphed into Noel Edmonds.

That’s annoying. Personally, I haven’t got the right shaped room to do it justice, so I’m not going down that route. I never quite got going with DVD-A, so Atmos isn’t for me. Some of the Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree Blu Ray audio discs do look very collectible though.

Honestly, I think it’s over-rated. It’s very good, but the mid 70s gave us so much excellent music, and this isn’t quite up there with the elite stuff.

Queen II and The Game were their best albums, and I’ve got a soft spot for A Kind of Magic, but not so much this one.

I want it, I really do. But I’m going to hold out to hear the quality of the live recordings, before I can even think about paying this sort of money for 4CDs.
