Took my son to the protest. Inspired by local leaders & organizers in this fight. Hard to figure out where to focus rn, but standing w 100s of RIers was a needed reminder we are not alone @indivisibleri.bsky.social @meghankallman.bsky.social @mackdistrict6.bsky.social @davidmoralesri.bsky.social

Such a good point! IMO the status quo is inaction/pointing figures back & forth btwn levels of govt while people suffer. There is a political risk asserting powers like eminent domain that many are afraid of. We need strong leaders willing to take risks for justice & we need to support them.

Yesterday's @indivisibleri.bsky.social rally was massive, moving, and the beginning (not the end) of the work. Hands to work in the name of freedom, justice, and democracy. Video of my speech here, courtesy of the inimitable @steveahlquist.bsky.social:

This is a dangerous abuse of power that sets a precedent in RI for extreme exclusion when we desperately need new housing units where ever we can build them. www.wpri.com/news/local-n...

The Mayor of Johnston #RhodeIsland is using eminent domain to take land allocated for 252 units of low-income housing to build a police station. This is reprehensible. But why don't other mayors use eminent domain to seize vacant buildings to create affordable housing? #HousingCrisis
