I'm not all authors. Nor are the authors I interact with on Bsky, my writing circles, and 99% of the authors I slush read.

That is a massive chunk of writers who aren't "all authors." Whoever insists all authors use AI should have toads and snakes fall out their mouth as they speak.

Reminds me of my ex who was a self loathing anime fan. Even though we met at an anime con, he was convinced being blase about his passion made him cool and respectable.

Now I'm thinking about the ghosts from His House, the Babadook, Pyramid Head from Silent Hill 2, etc. They're all terrifying, despite even after the audience learns their origins.

It helps that in all three cases, they're symbolic of what the leads are going through.

Please take a break, clear your head, and look at art outside of consumerist content. The works of Henry Darger, Seminole patchwork, Shepherd Fairey's "Obey" series, and yarn boming are good places to start.

It's why I keep writing in the face of dysgraphia, executive dysfunction, and limited spoons. It's easier to stop water by sticking a finger up a running faucet than to keep me from written expression.

Traditional publishing skews wyt, cishet male. I seriously doubt this demographic are inherently better writers than the rest of us.
