Did that when I closed a bar once. Happy birthday!
For the life of me, I don’t understand why we can’t just split the Daylight Savings Time in half and that’s it.
Jimmy Reed still kills. I mean every track.
Woefully under appreciated.
You know, I forgot your Voice column. That was certainly right there. Geez, my memory is definitely slipping. 🙄
A little later on, when I began bartending for a living, I knew Gary’s ‘Bible’ and from that got turned on to his and Mardee’s books on whiskey. Then when I got to speak with him in early 2k’s, all the classics followed. Along with Mr. Grimes classic as well.
My parents had plenty recipe books both purchased: Esquire, Bottoms Up, among others and plenty of liquor store swag (Calvert, calendars, etc.).
A writer on the subject of the romance of drinking that stays with me is Pete Hamill’s memoir, A Drinking Life. It all seemed very familiar to me.
“Tender Mercies” (!).
“Apocalypse, Now”, of course, is a lesson in scene stealing, while I’ve always maintained that “The Godfather” could have been very interesting as Tom Hagen’s story instead of Michael’s.
RIP Mr. Duvall. You seemed to have taken very little shit from anyone. 🥃🥃
The breadth and depth of Robert Duvall’s filmography is something to behold. A lot of memories and lasting performances for generations to come.
That Tanq Old Tom was my favorite. The abv balanced it to high wire levels. Cheers Doc!

I think that the Jets and Giants should pay us to watch them year after year. And the TV stations should refund us for the four Sunday’s in the month…”The Jets/Giants Mercy Rebate”!
I think we should use the abbreviation for “Artificial Intelligence” much less.
CRAZY DONNY! OUR PRICES ARE INSAAAAAANE!!!
Most every staffer in that New Yorker documentary on Netflix looks like they can use a significant raise.
I’ve had the fortunate pleasure to see Joe in great bands, songwriters circles and special appearances through the years. He was a real troubadour and timeless songwriter and back when I tried to do it, a lasting influence. He won’t be forgotten.
A couple of the voices that I think would be interesting to hear from these days are Hunter Thompson and John Lennon (RIP 12/8/80).

“Jenny, Jenny, who can I turn to?”
There may still be hope for us (and the NY Times) if the sad passing of the great songwriter, Todd Snider, garnered a phone notification.
(He was an awesome live performer and an all around generous fellow who will be missed for sure).

(Just add spirit and citrus element at time of service).
Also, with the relatively recent acceptance of batching at bars, the Bloody Mary is one of the few, if not the only one, that improves by preparing prior to use. There shouldn’t be any qualms regarding making one à la minute because you shouldn’t be.
There may still be hope for us (and the NY Times) if the sad passing of great jazz drummer, Jack DeJohnette, garnered a phone notification.
Why mess with the greats?
