Good conversation and glad to have listened, especially since I might be on soon and will need to find a few rare topics you guys didn't cover.

Same with Prince and Minnesota.

I don't need to browbeat or filibuster, or worse, meekly succumb to these pointless wastes of times. I can't imagine how many hours I wasted doing just that.

It's been two years since I had to think about story points or 15 month gantt charts.

It took me longer than it should have, but I finally found my people, those who recognize these things make you slower, not faster.

Our leadership group discusses priorities and then projects are assigned to cross-functional teams that execute. We do a few stakeholder check-ins, roll in some GTM activities, and that's basically it.

It had been a while since I thought about that, so I had to go and look at it. I'd say it's worth a read for anybody stuck in a rut, but for us, I think our approach is simpler.

Dump your SDLC.

We also shipped a hell of a lot more with smaller teams, and had a higher success rate.

Doing a year-end retrospective on our transition from "scrummish" to lean project management, and the response is overwhelmingly positive.

It's encouraging how stakeholders across the company are so tuned in to how we're operating and are game for more.

As a manager, when I have a hunch what the problem is and someone on my team solves the problem based on that, what's the best response?

A) Great job! I knew you could do it!

B) CALLED IT!!! WHOO HOO!! I JUST KNEW IT! YEE-HAW! IWASRIGHTIWASRIGHTIWASRIGHT!!!

I love working in cloud but the gcp console makes me wish I'd followed my dream of digging ditches.

Always fail fast when introducing new workloads to your stack. Waste is driven by an inefficient process becoming the new normal.

In the past year, my team has launched a fleet of new services built mostly on serverless technologies. Some of these become core features. Some of them we just deleted.

Most of the nasty n+1 problems I've faced turned out to be minor features tucked away in a monolithic code base with no real adoption or revenue associated.

I've been to reinvent a few times so of course it makes perfect sense to me to click "register now" twice before I can find a login screen and reach my planner.

Today I stood up a new serverless API and DNS propagation took longer than writing it did.

Went to clean a spill and found my hand vac has half-melted nerds in it.

useEffect sure is good for increasing site traffic!
