me & my oldest kid (tall white guy in blue duffel coat with brown hair and short white woman with yellow knit cap, sunglasses, and grey and black puffer) in a crowd of protestors. I’m holding a cardboard box top with the word NOPE on it but the E is a sideways crown.👑
Crowd of protestors in front of the WI state Capitol with signs. One says Bella Ciao.
Protest sign that says We the People taped to a hockey stick in front of the Capitol building in Madison.

Madison Wisconsin State Capitol where a huge crowd of people came to make their voices heard! Abolish ICE!
Thanks for the shout out, Mark!
Stumbled across this podcast episode today. I love Levine and this poem. Meitner’s close reading really adds to my appreciation of it. Also, shout out to the power of a great poetry anthology. The Poulin anthology she mentions, I found at a used bookstore in my hometown, struggling, post undergrad.

Indie journalist @marisakabas.bsky.social beautifully and heart-breakingly reminds us how important it is right now to find solidarity in our neighbors, wherever they're from, and fight the power being rained down upon us.

Superb reportage on Minneapolis from one of the all time greats.
i was talking with someone in the twin cities about how it’s not even accurate to call them protesters. they’re literally just people protecting their city from TERRORISTS.
ICE has kidnapped so many people from their cars that the city had to put out this statement. Let that sink in.
On the ground here in Minnesota, it’s hard to reconcile the immense bonds of community that have been built in a week with the fact that we live in a country whose government appropriated billions of dollars to an unaccountable paramilitary force whose sole purpose is ethnic cleansing.
Sadiq by Brian Turner It should make you shake and sweat, nightmare you, strand you in a desert of irrevocable desolation, the consequences seared into the vein, no matter what adrenaline feeds the muscle its courage, no matter what god shines down on you, no matter what crackling pain and anger you carry in your fists, my friend, it should break your heart to kill.
…it should break your heart to kill.
