We got more snow yesterday and it was a pleasant -3 out today so I went xc skiing and practiced my climbing/going downhill on a turn. ☺️

Really been enjoying learning to do another winter activity. ⛄️

Let’s make sure that this destruction of a park and public art leads to Mark Sutcliffe being a one-term mayor.

A selection of vintage food and cooking related print material strewed across a table.

A selection of vintage food and cooking related print material strewed across a table.

Tonight I picked up a lot of old cooking print media & ephemera. There’s a mix of ‘official’ government-sponsored material, commercially produced recipe books & advertising material, as well as some personal recipe cards & newspaper clippings. 😍

Turned out to be a gorgeous evening, though still very hot.

O. has organized a lovely birthday weekend for me: sunset canoeing tonight and tickets to Shania Twain tomorrow evening.

Pls keep your fingers crossed that the thunderstorms hold off. 🤞🏻

ordered gladiolus bulbs and accidentally order twice as many as I wanted and didn't realize until they already shipped... guess it'll be a glads girl summer 🤷🏻‍♀️

Connected with my local community association about planting a little garden box in the neighbourhood and on Friday, we had such a great chat and walk around... I think we've identified a spot for me to work on and I'm so delighted. 😊🌿

Again, super grateful to get a new porch to enjoy this summer but so sad I won’t see any tulips, peonies, etc. I’ll be very lucky if any of my herbs or late summer plants come up.

The porch was meant to get redone the fall we moved in, which meant it would have been at the end of the season. But they started now, literally, the week buds were coming up and have completely squashed everything.

Our porch is finally getting redone after almost a 1.5 year delay and although, I’m very grateful, our garden is destroyed. I’m so sad because I spend a lot of time, energy and money in making a nice garden and it’s ruined 😞

I'll admit, I didn't want a kitten. (Already have a purrfect senior cat in our household!) But Frankie is such joy. She is so spunky and affectionate. And it's such a pleasure to see her grown into a healthy, young cat after being so malnourished and scraggly as a kitten. 🥹

Orange/multicoloured kitten looking up from a window hammock to the camera. There’s a fake plant scratch post within her reach and morning sunshine glowing.

Over 2,000 Scottish historical letters were stolen. They were found in Canada | CBC Radio A Scottish archivist embarked on a decades-long quest to figure out who stole thousands of historical letters, with the trail leading him to Canada.

More than 300 archival documents stolen from Scottish and other UK archives by Trent University history professor in the 70s and 80s: then bequeathed to the university archives on his death! Apparently sat there for 20+ years, no one there thinking it suspicious.
