lol i mean when it comes to like "soft" cheese heroes whose main strength is having god tier escapes i do kinda wonder if it's just my own personal defect that i just don't really like playing dedicated chainstunners like shadow shaman or lion
but also everyone loses to getting chainstunned lol so
but in my experience, LD is one of my most played heroes and i have not lost a single game to that hero when he's picked early enough for me to lock a counter. tbh his playstyle is really obvious even when you can't make him hate life with a hero like witch doctor or lich, tho not easy to couterplay
but when lone druid or meepo are getting picked at tournaments and killing people's favorite streamers you don't get any of that. i can't tell if this is because:
a) instead of upvotes you would get yelled at
b) implicit belief that LD/meepo ARE harder than pl
c) people think there are no counters
can't help but notice when you want to understand what the intended mechanics to beat heroes like pl, weaver, void, am are, all you find is people on reddit going "play them yourself to find out how people beat you! :)" or "if it was really that free you would use it yourself to gain mmr"
Image of a custom made food item called "500 Cigarettes" in "Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream". Its just 500 cigarettes.
it's like "alright what the hell, why did the game decide THAT wasn't ok"
i was kinda salty about it the other night because i got penalty for the first time in years while playing i-no but it occurs to me that more than anything it's a very...emotionally misleading mechanic. it's hard to tell what it's actually preventing because it's so rare, so when you get it...
just saw happy chaos 2.0. continue to be impressed by the foresight that is "if the other person keeps blocking it doesn't count as running away"
yeah unfortunately not a really recommendable trip via transit although i would probably do it if i still lived in that area just to not drive
if you're in denver there's a bus route that goes between union station and a highway station like 10 minute walk from the good barcade. hahaha.

Dundee's famous Lemming statue from the video game Lemmings, made down the road.
When you pass the Lemming statue you have to stop and appreciate its majestic arse. I don't make the rules.

I decided to re-register an account to enjoy the memes of our 1990s #MoonChild game. 😁👍
I designed Hoi and Moon Child. Reinier van Vliet coded it, and Ramon Braumuller made the soundtrack.

mr jakes from basement brothers has a great intro video that'll definitely give you an idea of what it's really like. there's a couple of good walkthroughs on youtube too

most of the game is pretty rude and one-note (despite having a lot of different enemy sprites for the time, there's really only two kinds of enemies, the dungeons are all big rectangular mazes where each screen looks identical except for the doors, etc.), and it's long
xanadu 1 is an *extremely* eccentric game which i think most people would have a hard time getting into, although i haven't tried out its remake (revival xanadu) which i have to imagine is a bit nicer. there's a lot of fascinating things i could say about it bc the best parts are amazing but...
xanadu's not so easy to recommend, even using save states (which are built into the emulator system here) it's a strange early dungeon crawling bumper with monotonous dungeons, music, and combat. but the items and sidescrolling design are super rich and innovative...if it grabs you you'll love it
ys needs no introduction but these original versions of the games are still so fun and breezy, they're a really striking comparison to almost any other pc88 game which tend to really jank and slow. might be tricky as first versions since there's no english text but the totally hold up. especially 3
drasle family was released for the NES as "legacy of the wizard", a famously bizarre and unusual early metroidvania-the msx version has no screen scrolling which has minor disadvantages but better highlights the unique dragon slayer sense of mosaic art in the level designs. it's absolutely brilliant
drasle family, ys 1-3, xanadu and sorcerian...some of the best of the best up there right now

was honestly a fun as hell game for other reasons too, it was kinda nostalgic to play a game where so many players seemed helpless LOL. i was still proud of the win bc i felt like i did just enough to get our team the edge
tonight i enjoyed the exquisite opposite experience. i won a game with a teammate who played really well, better than i did for sure. next game we were on opposite teams and i continued to get extremely outplayed, but then we won anyway in a really fun game where i couldn't tell who was winning
