Besides all of the cooking/baking things I share (when I remember to take photos...🫣), I've been channeling my "penultimate months of PhD anxiety" into learning how to knit! I've been working on a sweater for a few weeks now, and it's actually starting to ~look~ like a sweater 🤩

I am gobsmacked & honored to have received awards for both of my presentations at the AMS Annual Meeting last month.
I want to thank the conference organizers & those who gave me helpful feedback on my research. These interactions will help me shape this work as I enter the final months of my PhD.

February 8, 2026 | yesterday was busy! Meal prepped chicken stew for lunch during the week, made tzaziki dip for falafel wraps, and made gluten free cinnamon rolls for a party (cream cheese frosting not shown) (also these were a mess to make and don't look pretty 😅) 🍗🍲🧆

February 4, 2026 | whoops, it's been a while! I can only blame 25% of it on AMS. Anyways...I made chicken lettuce cups with air fried green beans tonight 🤷🏻‍♀️🥬🍗

Oh it was.... Hopefully we both have better luck next year! Otherwise I'll be convinced I'm cursed and can never quietly travel to AMS again 😂

Ughhh. Thankfully my journey to AMS this year wasn't as bad as in 2025, but I can only imagine and sympathize with yours!

Lol, of course united didn't! I'm just thankful my bag arrived in one piece. It's crazy how things are either quiet or piling on all at once!

Oh, and 3. One of my cats puked twice within 10 minutes of me getting home 😮‍💨😂

I do think you beat me, but my entry isn't bad:
1. United makes me valet/gate check my carry on bag in DC, doesn't put it on the plane despite it being on the tarmac (see pic), then takes 30 hours to find and deliver it to me in Albany
2. My car wouldn't start so I had to drop $260 on a new battery

This is my final AMS as a student, and I am also interested in any job opportunities in applied meteorology, research-to-operations, and forecast improvements, with foci in extreme precipitation and hazards. If you would like to meet up, let me know - I'll be here all week! 😊

Today at #AMS2026 I am presenting both a talk and a poster from my PhD work (which I will be finishing this summer! 🫨).

My talk will cover 7 years of storm-total precip verification and my poster digs deeper into the driving mechanisms of a poor forecast from Hurricane Henri (2021). 🌧️

I completely agree. I am not huge on daily weather monitoring/watching models and it's been a large source of imposter syndrome since I started undergrad almost 10 years ago. There's more to being an atmospheric scientist than looking at models!

One of my goals for 2026 was to learn how to knit! I've been crocheting for over a decade and have attempted knitting a couple of times with no success.

I am SO pleased that this time knitting has clicked! Meet Poppy the chicken! 🐓🧶

January 9, 2026 | I had a tooth extracted and an implant placed yesterday (owwww) which means soft food / liquid diet for me! Butternut squash soup and homemade dinner rolls 🥣🍞🦷

December 29, 2025 | kale salad with lots of yummy mix-ins (apples, dried cranberries, roasted chickpeas, carrots, & feta) with a homemade salad dressing! 🥗🍎

December 25, 2025 | I meant to post this yesterday and I need to work on my plating skills, but I made chicken and orzo with feta and spinach 🌲

December 24, 2025 | My family has a tradition to make homemade pizza on Christmas Eve. This year I attempted a homemade pan pepperoni pizza! 🍕
