London-bound

11 years ago looking back along the A45 westbound exit slip to the Clock Interchange, as we added an extra lane in anticipation for the rail line bridge to be rebuilt & widened
Bin day is Tuesday so if no takers by Monday they'll be recycled
I have a hefty collection of old engineering journals from 2011-2015, publications are Modern Railways, New Civil Engineer, & The Structural Engineer, free to a good home. May suit various waiting rooms or for engineering students, most of the topics discussed are relevant today still.
Had an amazing day at #Thegreatestgathering, fantastic set up, loads to see. Personal highlight was the #Rail200 #Inspiration train which is absolutely must-see.
Derby-bound
Some of the comments around the #Greatestgathering are exactly why I treat the rail enthusiast community with a light touch - the scramble for ticketed activities is already bringing out the worst in some people
This is one of the stupidest takes I've ever seen
Anyone I know going to Derby next week for a certain rail-related event?
Our local Facebook page has multiple Karens complaining the police aren't arresting anyone seen walking a dog in town. This country has truly lost its marbles
On a local Facebook page, people are comparing one of my road closures to the 2003 invasion of Iraq
The whole of the UK right now

We got the 9am train out of London yesterday- ok the peak flow is heading into the capital - but the train was still empty. Yes, it was quiet & comfortable vs busy & crowded. Surely if there's spare capacity then fares can be lowered to encourage use?
Train departs in 6 minutes, doors shut, giving us 4 minutes to board with the silly doors-shut-2-mins-before-departure rule, come on
I maintain that this remains one of best stations to arrive into London at
Word on the street is one bunch of Reform councillors tried to overturn staff working from home, before realising the NHS is leasing redundant office space & there's no room for the full council staff contingent to be back in the offices
Another weekend away, this time to Norfolk, got very lucky with the weather. BBQs and beaches, including minor estuary alignment works at Sheringham
Beautiful sunset tonight
Jesse, it's time to grill
Need some sunglasses mate?
If the government is going to start engineering the climate can they make it warm & sunny so we can finally have proper European cafe culture
Spending the rest of the week off-site for training, any guesses where?
Brief trip to Manchester this week for an excuse to get suited up
What a joke, the whole planning system needs rewriting. Nimbyism at its finest, let's let a multibillion-pound nationally significant project be delayed because of a 113m-long ditch & some stuffy councillors don't understand what whole-life cost means

Despite the drizzle, we continued to sizzle #bankholidayweekend
6am waiting to escort an abnormal load across a weak culvert
Another night shift working over the rail tonight
