I agree that public transport is not a growth panacea, but I'm highly skeptical of the focus on higher ed/universities as an alternative engine for growth. As Forth has highlighted, Oxford and Cambridge have very mediocre GVA/head!

Is this RPI?
Self-selecting respondents so I don't think there is a majority. Even so, VAR has improved and I think there's a case to be made that it will improve further.
But fundamentally the fans will not drive this. Very few people will stop watching because of it and owners care about reducing variance.
Seatbelts: ABD survey finds 75% of motorists against safety feature
I am totally supportive of VAR tbh. Maybe I'm in a minority (definitely online), but I was constantly frustrated as a kid watching obvious howlers
I much prefer the occasional pause and disallowal than blatant mistakes.
Also there's 0 evidence on-field decision-making is any worse with it.
Based on the FSA website having an open call for people to respond to this survey, this is total junk. Obviously the anti-VAR crowd will self select into responding!
Not seen an article that mentions this, which seems pretty damning for sports journalism - even the supposedly higher quality stuff.
By Increase supply I meant Increase supply in the US market
Yes I was talking about outbidding others.
Right but with a higher price, and no tax, petrol stations can buy more expensive oil. There are some marginal barrels which become profitable to buy and then sell on.
Obviously removing the tax is a stupid idea, but it would make it (at least a little) more affordable and increase supply.
Great! Will give it a read. In what ways has your thinking changed the most? Just to keep in mind as I read.
Do you have a single-article summary/somewhere else you could point me covering your views on the UK housing market and setting out your thinking? Particularly against the supply-focused YIMBY thinking which sets you apart from most other housing policy people ATM.
Spurs could always lose by 13+ goals
How does changing the offside rule avoid the marginal decisions and delays from tight offsides that people dislike about VAR?
You're always going to have some form of offside rule, and that will always have marginal calls.
IMV VAR is a clear improvement on the litany of mistakes. Unavoidable.
It's difficult just how weird the issue of IP has become within Labour. So much baggage from the Corbyn years (and before) and Starmer made ridding antisemitism from the party a huge part of his early leadership. The Labour right are terrified to be accused of it by opponents.
Ah right, ministers β his major advisors!
The PLP def is and has been applying pressure on the issue, with a few MPs (e.g. Streeting) having an electoral incentive to do so, but the actual people around Starmer (like McSweeney until recently) are on board with the strategy out of caution.
Which media reports suggest that? I haven't seen them and would be very, very surprised.
I don't think it's ideological. It is rooted in a real fear of the crises of antisemitism that engulfed Corbyn and all of the political infighting it entailed.
Good lesson for all the people who blamed the 3-0 loss on the turf..
Itβs just hard for the rest of us to get our heads around.
they saw the before lifeless head throbbing and heaving just below the surface of the sea, as if that moment seized with some momentous idea
But none of us are in heaven yet.

Crazy how real humours feel. Had a cold -> had a hot chocolate with chilli in it -> humours balances
Why the swap?
Zack Polanski often mentions that he's one of 5 Jewish people to lead a British political party in the last 100 years. Who's the fifth?
I have:
Himself
Milliband
Michael Howard
Viscount Samuel
????
so much for the woke marxist pope, out here abolishing Dei
I'd be keen! Not that I have much good use for it but it'd be cool to have
Why? As someone who hasn't been around as long
I don't think a wealth tax is the answer but I think Starmer has shown a total incapacity to recognise the problem and actually take action. He is not making those hard, unpopular decisions. Hopefully Burnham would.
today i walked four miles and i had roast chicken with vegetables for dinner :)
