What are gig workers demanding?
Income security for gig and platform workers, aligned with statutory minimum wages.
A fair and transparent pay structure, including a minimum rate of not less than ₹20 per km for ride-hailing drivers.
An eight-hour working day, with provision for overtime pay beyond fixed hours.
Comprehensive social security benefits, including functional insurance to support workers during accidents, illness or emergencies.
Withdrawal of “10-minute delivery” service models, which workers say encourage unsafe driving and endanger lives, as reported by The Hindu, citing an IFAT official.
Safer working conditions, including restrictions on late-night deliveries during high-risk periods such as winter fog.

Please don't cross the picket line during the planned pan-India gig workers strike on New Year's Eve. Delivery workers face horrible working conditions, the demands they are making are incredibly reasonable, and they deserve everyone's solidarity.

it’s Sunday on bluesky so I am urging everyone to take care of themselves. Take a walk, have a second cup of coffee or tea, read a book, spend some time looking at small poems

Came to the kinder place to post about this kind imitative. With just ₹500 you can provide a school kit to a student.

I’ve been associated with this initiative for 10 years and can personally vouch for it. If you want to donate, please contact the folks on the poster. Or DM me.

No Moses in Siege, by Muhammad Al Kurd
No Moses in Siege, by Muhammad Al Kurd YouTube video by Poetry in Parks

Was it because there were no more graves in Gaza that you brought us to the beach to die?
Was it because rubbling us in our houses, like our cousins, like our cultures, like our gods, would be a bore?

Kind people. We are trying to raise funds for bicycles so rural children can reach school easily. Currently they have to walk 6-7kms to get to school.

We also raised this last year and I had some bicycles shipped myself. This is a legit drive. Please consider donating or sharing this forward.

More than the Bare Minimum I am writing this after eating a delicious bowl of steaming dal khichri and air-fried chicken. I have the day off on account of a public holiday so an expanse of time lays before me unclaimed, and …

I’m just a girl standing in front of the world asking for more than the bare minimum.

Don’t Put VR Pets in my Fiction, Please? A prophecy that doesn’t come true is gibberish from the past. Along with other books, I am currently reading Exhalation by Ted Chiang. To put it loosely, it is a collection of science fiction…

I’m reading a short story that has VR pets and I had to write about it.

I’ve been spending time reading and watching one particular show in a languid manner. Then, I come to the internet and it hits me in the face how messed up the world is as opposed to the reading and show worlds that I inhabit.

It shudders me a little.

Long train rides are freeing, and I mean it. They allow you to be suspended in time. As someone who has used long distance trains a lot, I highly recommend it.

What’s even better than reading #PoetryInParks?

Putting books in the hands of all who want them, particularly those from historically disadvantaged communities.

That’s what @freelibsnet.bsky.social and their member libraries do.
Follow, and reshare their post. Many goodies are coming your way.
