Will the national parks survive Trump? From budget cuts to “ideological” changes, the Trump administration is shaping the future of the National Park Service.

Labor Day weekend is the end of the peak season for many of the country’s national parks. But, in the last few months, the National Park Service has lost 24% of its staff.

From budget cuts to “ideological” changes, the Trump administration is shaping the future of our public lands.

“Freedom Threatened” sign on the Gettysburg Battlefield documenting the Warfield House and how the Confederate Army rounded up free Black people and put them back into slavery.

I learned about the #SaveOurSigns effort from my colleague @dataemily.bsky.social and enjoyed documenting signs at the Gettysburg National Military Park this past weekend. I then listened to an episode of @revealnews.org and learned this sign is one of the most explicit on the battlefield

On National Dachshund Day I want to recognize my #dachshund Reese. My heart and soul dog who brings me so much love and joy and can absolutely destroy me at the same time. She has been through so much - meningitis, and recently a bee sting that led to anaphylactic shock and UTI.

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

"The exclusion of libraries was intentional, not an oversight. In a moment when university budgets are facing profound and intense technological, financial, and governmental pressures, Clarivate’s fast and furious timeline—even with a slight reprieve—is out of touch."

ALA response to White House assault on IMLS
To dismiss the mission of an agency that advances opportunity and learning is to dismiss the aspirations and everyday needs of millions of Americans. And those who will feel that loss most keenly live in rural communities.
As seedbeds of literacy and innovation, our nation’s 125,000 public, school, academic and special libraries deserve more, not less support. Libraries translate 0.003% of the federal budget into programs and services used by more than 1.2 billion people every year. President Trump's executive order to eliminate the Institute of Museum & Library Services would have disastrous effects for communities nationwide. We call on all Americans who value reading & learning to reach out to their elected leaders.
