"Labour’s great green energy plan could be a legacy as vital as the NHS".
I agree. More power to Ed Miliband's elbow. Sod the haters in the rightwing press. They hate him because he's winning.

Lots of good green announcements from Miliband's department at the moment.
"Motorists will be able to have a “gully” to run an electric cable [for EVs] as a permitted development, which can cost £1,000 under current rules."

He's literally just said 'I didnt allow that to cloud my judgement '.
It's also of note that in response to Emily Thornberry he said very clearly that the pressure had no bearing on his decision.
This is true but Robbins has also very clearly stated to the chair, Emily Thornberry, that the pressure had no bearing on his decision.
Telegraph newspaper editorial on Mandelson's appointment in December 2024 versus editorial today
Voters have just today left to register to vote for the local elections taking place across England on 7 May. Anyone who wants to take part must register before 11.59pm tonight.
Registering takes minutes at gov.uk/register-to-vote. Just need name, address & National Insurance number. Pass it on.
I've only seen a clip but he was interviewing her and asking about the Mandelson mess. I had no idea he was friends with Mandelson until I read about it today.
Given his close friendship with Mandelson, how was he allowed to interview him in the first place? And where does he get off with his sanctimonious hectoring of Liz Kendall this morning? Seems perhaps the great Sir Trevor may not be such a good judge of character as he expects others to be.
What should have happened: the REIT paid no tax but the Tice companies holding shares in the REIT paid £98k tax on the dividends they received. What actually happened: none of the companies paid any tax.
Our new report: Richard Tice signed accounts wrongly claiming £98,000 of tax exemptions
A 🧵 with the evidence:
Richard Tice deputy leader of Reform ran four shell companies which did not pay any tax on profits between 2020 and 2022.
He's now offering to "put things right".
Go on then Richard - resign.

You do surprise me.
I think we might have to agree to disagree on this one. I think it's a slippery slope.
Exactly what I was going to say. If DV confidentiality is no longer an absolute, then nobody will apply for any job requiring it. A case of be careful what you wish for. DV is a highly intrusive process and whoever is being subjected to it for a job should be allowed the certainty of privacy.

This seems more than a little important.
If you return unwanted Reform local election leaflets to their party headquarters using their free post address, then it will cost the party £2.50 per envelope.
Please don’t share this information; it could cost Nigel Farage a fortune.

Pope Leo XIV: “I am not afraid of the Trump administration, nor of raising my voice firmly in proclaiming the message of the Gospel — my duty is not to fit into a partisan agenda, but to be a beacon of revealed truth, even when that truth is uncomfortable for centers of power”
Leo: "The message of the church, the message of the gospel -- blessed are the peacemakers. I do not look at my role as being political. I don't want to get into a debate with him. I don't think the message of the gospel is meant to be abused in the way that some people are doing."
Okay, who did this? 😂
Asked about Tice's tax by C4 News, Farage responds: "Do give me a lecture on REITs [tax schemes]. Give us the benefit of your knowledge on this, I'd be thrilled."
Can't think of a reason why he would respond thay way to Amelia Jenne of C4 News but answer politely to Nick Eardley of the BBC.
