"All we say to America is, 'Be true to what you said on paper.'"
These words — spoken by MLK Jr. shortly before he was killed on this day in 1968 — ring just as true now.
Let's honor his legacy by continuing the fight for social and economic justice.
Calling AI a “tool for learning” is like a film major where they teach you how to operate a remote
Trump's DOJ just ended its prosecution of the bank that helped Iran dodge U.S. sanctions, as what looks like a favor to his dictator buddy Erdogan. Trump sacrificed U.S. servicemembers' lives and spiked gas prices to attack Iran, but he lets Iran's bankers off scot-free. It's all a grift.
yes
Yes. Let's think about justice not just for the deliberate destruction of democracy for their own profit, but for 50+ years of undermining poor, working and middle class people just to funnel money to the most wealthy of us.
It would be useful if the NYT explicitly stated that the pilot, if captured, would be a POW, that there are laws governing how POWs can be treated, that respect for international law on war shapes how the enemy approaches it, and this is why the US conduct of this illegal war has been so dangerous.
This was entirely foreseeable, and many of us warned that if the Department abandoned all of its principles, the decent public servants in its ranks would abandon the Department.
"Incremental growth" sounds like a nice theory to change-averse planners, but doesn't bear much resemblance to redevelopment reality.

"This executive order is more like an attempted executive override of the states’ authority to run our elections. Meant to solve for a problem that exists only in the false rhetoric of the Trump administration and its political fortunes...
"the EO is a classic example of their playbook to deceive the American people and disrupt the election process in order to deny any future results that don’t suit them." -Alexandra Chandler, director of Impact Programs, Free and Fair Elections, Protect Democracy
Trump’s latest EO restricting mail-in voting aims to legitimize conspiracies that our elections are fraudulent. It's part of the "Executive Override"strategy laying groundwork for overturning results the admin doesn't like, @alexandrachandler.bsky.social explains:

The Mississippi Democratic Party criticized Republicans in a March 24 press release for passing the bill because of the 647,000 Mississippi women whose last name does not match their birth certificates and the roughly 80% of Mississippians who do not have a passport.
Three major new studies on democracy and freedom all find the U.S. is slipping further away from democracy. Leaders of two of those studies say President Trump's goal is to rule as an autocrat.

Pop Leo asked if he should put on gloves to turn pages in the gorgeous Renaissance Bible and the librarian explained why it’s better to do so with bare hands. Glorious reaction.

The Daily Caller on Threads: OPINION: We should do more than just require ID to vote. The Save Act is the least we should do. It’s rookie numbers. We should do far more. Way fewer people should be allowed to vote. Americans must meet two of three criteria to vote: 1. Be a net contributor to tax revenue 2. Own property 3. Be married with children… There’s also a graphic that says “in a fairer world 150 million Americans wouldn’t be allowed to vote.”
The mask is completely off. You can’t meet these people in the middle. We’re not working toward the same goals.
They hate America. They hate democracy. They hate freedom.
And they hate you.

Someone in NYC should do interviews with middle-school kids who take the subway to and from school every day, to see if they have any advice for Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy who can't seem to go a single day without pissing himself in fear over them.
"Voting is the most direct way many Americans experience democracy. Threats to ballot access make democracy personal — not just theoretical, which is how voting can become a kitchen-table priority."

The US has fewer counterintelligence officers who have experience with Iran because a few years ago those US officers did their jobs properly and assisted with a judge-signed search warrant regarding a criminal theft of US defense secrets, which the search found a lot of evidence of.
Seriously.
They found him. He died.
Another murder by our immigration goon squads
I hope everyone realizes Trump is raising money to attack Democrats in the 2026 elections though a bribe-pardon mill.
