Luckily, unlike Russia we here in the US are able to take action against our leaders when inflation runs too high. Specifically by electing a leader who idolizes Russia and wants to implement policies that will cause inflation to skyrocket.

Folks were about as white bread American as they come- and three of their five grandkids (including my two) aren't white. Funny how things change.

I'll have to check in with my Nigerian student to see what he had- I'm guessing there might be quite a bit of influence from Western evangelicals

A carved wooden nativity set from Nigeria

Apropos of nothing in particular, here's the #nativity set from Nigeria my folks have been putting up for 50+years.

Growing up, both my sister and I just assumed Jesus was Black. It wasn't until much later I realized some people might think that was odd.

In a somewhat similar vein, someone wearing a Pope's hat might find this one a lot of fun- make the Nicene Creed follow your (possibly incredibly blasphemous) wording. One God, One God in three parts, Three equal Gods...? And of course John the Baptist was the true Savior.

Not a nuclear engineer but the comparison of sub reactors and commercial ones isn't 1-1. Sub reactors use highly enriched uranium, literally bomb grade because they're designed to need refueling rarely to never. Obviously there are serious concerns about using that outside the military.

Lag time and cost. Wind and solar installs are relatively cheap, numerous and fast- you can iterate designs quickly. Nuclear plants are expensive, rare and slow- by the time you actually get running the design is a decade or more old and you only have a couple to actually learn on

I teach a college first year seminar about "how we know what we we know". I've always had a section on vaccines in it- going to be expanding it quite a bit

It's the primary reason they want to eliminate the Department of Education- none of them are allowed near a school.

Speaking as a person without a uterus, what would be the most effective way for us to download and use period tracking apps to poison the well for anyone trying to weaponize the data?

Outpost was possibly the most hilariously broken game ever shipped.

It simply wasn't finished- it was missing most of the features on the box. Just minor things- like roads, or diplomacy. Meanwhile, it was entirely possible to be given an initial start that literally wasn't colonizable.
