I fully agree, it swings both ways: bsky.app/profile/ryst...

Folks in game dev often say that the last 10% is 90% of the work. Sadly, I think it's impossible to measure any game's completion in percentages.
Sometimes you feel you did 110%, and folks find many issues. Sometimes you are forced to release at 70% and it ends up selling millions. No way to know.
Hell yeah!!
Yes, to be very clear if my thread above wasn't yet: I want both consultants and education, as well as plugins. I am seeing the former, but not the latter. I am wondering if that is because they do not exist, or because I lack vision on their existance.
Only problem is, they were for production tracking, features like minimaps or healthbars, inventory systems, text writing and rendering, etc. Not for accessibility as their sole goal.
Sure, I would say depending on the API, when the plugin is built well enough, it is 'built into the engine', but of course first party built-in is better than third party.
I do not think a plugin has to fit genre, broad integration, etc. I've seen massively successful plugins that fit all genres.
Yes, to clarify myself: I want both the consulting, and the plugins to both happen, and at the moment I am only seeing the consulting, which is making me question whether it does not exist, or if I do not have visibility on it.
Oof, yeah, it would have to be cleanly implemented as a part of the system, like plugins in Unity or Unreal do, rather than just an overlay.
I think the 'not be able to resolve' part is true, there will always be edgecases.
But, I think it would be easier to tell a company 'You need to make sure your audio also plays visuals, for accessibility' and give them a plugin to then try and do that with, rather than them building new systems.
Oh I had not ever heard of AccessiBe before. What does it do, and what is worse about it?
"3) hearing - consider on screen notifications for important sounds"
Isn't that a great fit for a plugin though? It detecting what sounds play, notification the user either in 3D space or screenspace, etc.
Many systems such as minimaps, text color systems, etc, are already done so via plugins.
I may be very wrong about this! I am posting because I am genuinely curious:
1. Would releasing accessibility plugins (e.g. subtitle size, audio events as visual events, shaders for color blindness, etc) cause more games to be released with accessibility features?
2. Is this already being done?
The reason I am thinking this is because the main reason accessibility does not get a role in much software is because folks say it is hard to implement. Engineers may be right or wrong about this, but that's always the prevailing argument.
But usage of plugins is usually seen as easy, so...?
For accessibility in games there is a lot of teaching and consulting going on to show companies the worth of accessibility. This is good.
I also feel it's not particularly efficient.
Wouldn't building and selling accessibility plugins help too, and make those folks more money? Do those exist?
This story is a rollercoaster
Alright good morning, that’s enough comments, thank you. Time to limit interactions.
I’ll put it up on my channel in the far future. Not sure when yet, I first want to hone it.
And I’ll be at GodotCon, see you there!
Me, a dumbo: Why do people put perfectly good couches in the garbage? Why not give them away for free?
Me, learning my lesson: No, I can't deliver it. No, I won't hold it for 2 weeks. No, you can't come by between 2am and 3am. No, a dog did sit on it once. No, I do not have it in any other colors.
Your comment reminded me of my favourite comment on my work: bsky.app/profile/ryst...
Oh no I forgot about Component
Thank you
I don't know where "Template" and "Entity" go in this diagram, but I'm happy to take suggestions.
There's Mario and Luigi, plumbers, but turns out they had a secret older brother: Edoardo, a UI designer, with accompanying moustache and overalls
The way classical music is named is nuts. "Symphony Number 5" and "Concerto in C major for flute and harp"
Imagine we named videogames that way!
"Role Playing Game, in a Desert"
"Racing game with boosts, and items"
"Shooting Multiplayer 5"
Good post doing well, but my fridge broke. Life gives, and life takes
On one hand, my fridge broke.
On the other hand, I am having no trouble bulking today.
This is the Template to a good life.
All the world is a Stage, and we are but Actors.
When we build, we want the story point burndown to be faster. When we... oh wait, no, that's all we needed to do.
A graph of various modalism splits between god, son, spirit, father, angles, man, and woman. Honestly I can barely describe it, but there are lines everywhere, in thin lines, thick lines, red lines, circles, squares, and triangles.
I had no idea what 'Modalism' meant so I looked it up and the first image on google looks exactly like technical documentation
