A Simple Question That Might Help Us Disagree Better: What's Your Poison? I've launched a new podcast designed to model better discussion about politics, especially with people from across the political divide.

Thanks Peter Lewis for exploring bridges across the political divide. I’ve long wished for inquisitive politics instead of oppositional politics, whereby the aim would be to find best solutions for our future, not wedge politics and gotchas.

Year-end surge: electric trucks outsell diesel for the first time in China - electrive.com In December 2025, 45,300 fully and partially electrified heavy-duty trucks were newly registered in China—accounting for 54 percent of total heavy-duty truck

Yay! In December 2025 the sales of heavy-duty NEV trucks in China hit over 50% for the first time, beating diesel & petrol.
Australia? We seem to prefer imported diesel instead of locally-generated electricity, ignoring cost & insecurity.

Exclusive: Tesla is developing a new smaller, cheaper EV, sources say — Reuters Tesla (TSLA.O) is developing an all-new smaller, cheaper electric SUV, four people familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Smaller cheaper Tesla may be back on the agenda: a foot or more shorter & 1/2 tonne lighter.
Won’t happen this year. Hope for this decade 😂
Reuters has solid internal contacts, so story should be reasonably accurate.

Great summary of new EVs available in Australia @ under $40k. But I’d recommend a used Tesla Model 3 instead. Even the oldest from 2019 can charge at up to 250kW, making your road-trip charging stops much shorter.
There are 60+ used Tesla Model 3 under $40k on CarSales.

Copenhagen completes transition to an entirely electric bus fleet The roll out of electric buses to two additional routes - including the busiest in the city - means that Copenhagen's bus system is entirely electric.

Copenhagen has now completed the 6-year transition to 100% electric bus fleet.
How about it Adelaide? Why not commit to doing it by 2030?
Cleaner air; less dependency on unreliable imported diesel; lower climate-wrecking emissions.
What’s not to like?

If you want a quick update on Artemis II moon launch planned for this week Chris Smith’s podcast is v good on question: why do it?
Interesting that the uber-expensive launch system is considered legacy tech compared with that of Blue Origin and SpaceX.

Read TIME's Full Interview with SpaceX's Gwynne Shotwell The SpaceX president and COO spoke with TIME just days after the company merged with xAI, making it the world's most valuable private company.

Fascinating transcript of long interview with Gwynne Shotwell, President and COO of SpaceX.
I often wondered how she’d managed, working so effectively for an extremely demanding and visionary boss.

EVs did not wreck the great Australian weekend, and electric trucks may just save the farm The war in Iran underlines how fossil fuel addiction makes Australian road freight vulnerable. As the truckies’ bumper sticker puts it, “When trucks stop, Australia stops”. There are electric options.

China is moving ahead fast on electric farm tractors and electrifying all transport. It’s puzzling why a rich country like Australia - with so much solar and wind - isn’t the nation leading the pack on electrifying farming and heavy transport.
So timid…

Breakneck Speed: Summer of climate whiplash | Climate Council This report makes clear there are significant and rapidly increasing costs to continued climate pollution in a time of accelerating extremes.

No, Senator Canavan. Climate whiplash - when we lurch rapidly between heatwaves, floods & wildfires - is not normal.
Your responsibility is to pressure Govt to take urgent action to electrify everything with clean energy to help salvage a liveable climate.

After the Hamas atrocity in Israel, our Govt said "Israel has a right to defend itself" & then said zilch as Gaza was flattened & tens of thousands killed.
History now repeats in Iran & Lebanon.
Would our Govt stay silent if a despotic Western head of state were murdered?
