Flying back to MN again.
Send calming vibes for my dad, who is struggling with late stage Parkinson's dementia (hallucinations/paranoia/fear/agitation/not sure what is real/etc)
This trip's goal is finding a long term memory care facility, and getting him a peaceful environment
For me send wine

Iceland Day 8:
Coffee/pastries at a delicious coffee shop with my new fav coffee sign
Farewell Iceland! It was beautiful and I'm so glad I got to experience so much of it!!
A shockingly clear view flying over Greenland
Cheers to good travel and good travel buddies!
Iceland Day 8:
A hike up to a volcanic crater with views across lava fields
Climbing up ice covered rocks into a hidden, frozen, gorgeous little slot canyon
You can't skip the phallological museum!
The final night deserves a hotel, and this one is made of driftwood!! It was so cute and cozy!!
Here's the thing.
Even if AI is "useful," that does not make its use, which also feeds its processes and its cultural relevance, innocuous. The promise of AI is a system that relies on your data to replace you, without paying you. Giving it the data is enabling it, and the agenda of its owners.
Iceland Day 7:
Goodbye Akureyri, officially my fav town in the country! 😍🥰 #loveakureyri
Hvítserker - a stone formation rumored to be a sea troll
New friend came over for scritches!! 🤩😭
A beautiful drive through beautiful, empty, stark scenery along the north western coast
Iceland Day 6:
Husavik! The town from Eurovision is an adorable tiny finishing town.
And they have a museum for the movie in the jaja Ding Dong bar!
Godafoss, the amazing, icicle covered Waterfall of the Gods
Evening in Akureyri which is the CUTEST town and has heart shaped stoplights 😍
Happy birthday!!
Iceland Day 5:
A valley filled with steaming vents. It was like being inside a very scenic fart
A dairy barn next to a cafe that encouraged you to pet the cows! I pet every single one! And ate their fresh cheese!
Gorgeous blue hot springs in a snowstorm
And MOTHER FRICKIN NORTHERN LIGHTS!!!! 🤩😭🤩😭
This day deserves more pics!
Sculpted eggs of the birds of Iceland, along a random industrial harbor
These conditions are fine as long as we aren't on hairpin turns through mountains, OOPS
Sideways icicles
The most Nordic experience. Blizzard, whitecaps crashing into the hot spring, and a drink
Iceland Day 4:
Holy hell glaciers really are blue!? 🤩
If you've got glacial ice, and Icelandic vodka, you make a cocktail
Cheers to drinking AN ACTUAL GLACIER 🤯
can you tell I am excited about glacier ice?
Iceland Day 3 (it's so hard to pick only 4 pics!)
Endless black sand beaches, violent waves, and striking basalt formations
Every town has the same church, each with a cemetery, with the most Nordic family lines
This is a color photo
Peeking out of an abandoned barn that smelled like childhood
Remember the 6 men who forcibly removed Dr. Teresa Borrenphol from the Coeur d'Alene town hall? They’ve been arrested and charged! www.kivitv.com/news/six-men...
The wrong ICE is melting The wrong Amazon is burning
Sign of the day…
Iceland Day 2:
American School bus Cafe! Yes we got coffee, yes it was kitschy as hell 🤩
Home sweet Home for the next week 🚐 honestly, it was a good van and we named it Bouqetin!
Getting DRENCHED behind Seljalandsfoss (Foss is waterfall in Icelandic)
Exploring a barn built into a cave!
Back from Iceland, it was a fantastic adventure! Now that I'm back, I'll post pics, because I was too focused on enjoying the trip to do daily travel posts!
So here's day 1:
Empty row on my red eye to Boston
A cozy reading nook on my layover
Gorgeous views leaving Boston
Sunset above the clouds
We chose one, which was good, but now he's in the hospital instead for some pretty awful psych stuff, so... Not good :(
and my costumes aren't finished, it's because I'm likely going to Minnesota after this trip instead of Vegas.
TLDR: family health stuff sucks, but Iceland will hopefully be awesome
Anyway... Here's Wonderwall (and my overpriced airport G&T)
I guess most of this is navel gazing bullshit. But that's where my head is at.
So get ready for some travel pics? I guess? But know that they are enjoyed and appreciated while knowing just how fleeting the ability to make and recall memories can be.
And when I see y'all at Det... (cont)
5. I have emergency plans in place, I have community, I have people I love, I have a lot more stability than most people, I have my health (physical and mental) and I have the freedom and luck to be able to enjoy a lot of my life...
(Cont)
A bunch of self-imposed guilt
3. I have been channeling all my stress into rage and working out... So that's something at least 🤷♀️
4. I am on my way to Iceland for what is sure to be an *incredible* 9 day trip, but I feel ridiculous being excited for that while also dealing with the above...(Cont)
Cry and be scared and terrified and in full psychosis is heartbreaking.
2. Being a long distance daughter is also hard. There's nothing I can do if I were to go back. And I already have travel booked. Which I would cancel, but have been assured I shouldn't. So that comes with... (cont)
Fucking awful. I know it's trite, but cherish your loved ones and let them know how you feel. Because our clarity and sense of self isn't a given, and watching someone lose that and just be SCARED is soul crushing.
And in particular, watching your dad, a strong Midwestern farm man...(Cont)
So I forget that this is essentially Twitter, and dumping out all my thoughts is what Twitter was about (before it became and a cesspool)
So here's some stuff that's in my head. Bad to good
1. This has been one of the toughest weeks for me. My dad has Parkinson's, and brain stuff is SO...(Cont)
I sometimes miss IG because I like posting cute lil aesthetic pics. But I guess I can do that here too 😂
Celebrating @alexidoptera.bsky.social with excursions to the Smith center and cute cocktails!
