Please dress appropriately. We will again bring water, gloves, garbage bags, small hand saws, doughnuts!

McCarty Woods/ Harmonic woods --250 volunteers braved the drizzle to replant natives in the conservation area aand remove invasives. Over 80 trash bags of invasive plants (fern and coral ardisia) were removed. Thanks everyone and thanks intro bio students for helping out!

Awesome turnout at McCarty woods Saturday. Thanks to all volunteers. Special thanks to SACNAS for their help!! The bark on the south side looks great - it will reduce erosion. ew signs looks great. Lots of new plants in the ground on the east side. Next event Sun March 30.

It is spring in McCarty Woods. Red buckeyes planted during last 3 years are leafing out. Next McCarty Woods Restoration event will be Sat. Feb. 15, 9-1030. Watering, more things to plant and more labels to add. Meet north side of woods by picnic table. We will bring water, gloves, doughnuts!

Genome assembly for the McCarty Woods Genome Project has begun—undergraduates have started work (first steps) on assembling the genome of pignut hickory (Carya glabra), a native species whose genome has not previously been sequenced/assembled.
