The 1933 German Federal Election: Nazis 33%. Socialist 20%. The pro Stalin KDP 17%. Both sideism is sometimes really wrong. Whatever their weaknesses the socialist weren't the Nazis. On the other hand just because someone else is very wrong doesn't mean you are right, eg KDP.

Why do I keep getting ads for large baskets and measuring lines?

No doubt better than what we have. But it seems like those schemes always get budget cut into long wait times ie NHS and Canada. Why not a swiss style compulsory and universal but private insurance market?

Authoritarianism these days is less about canceling elections eg Russia Turkey Venezuela ext. It's more controlling the media and gov apparatus. The average person can't do as much with the latter but you can make sure decent media (such as we have) have a lot of money to cover sprawling corruption

No concerns. But if you were to say write a book on the virtues I'd love to see some thinking on two questions: 1. How do we pick which virtues to cultivate. I know why you'd write on those seven but do different times call for different virtues. 2. How do the virtues relate to the law/wisdom.
