I think we both have very different opinion on how the con response reads. I still don’t see any issue with it. With the amount of rumours going around anyways before the statement, it’s really not made any difference to have just confirmed that yes, this was the situation.

Not talking about those ones, but that’s a fair thing for people to have been upset about, I did see some people were having issues with the quality of their accommodation.

What witch hunt is happening here? The con is over this year, it’s done. The people facing criminal charges may need to face them, but everybody else just has to sit with their experience of it now. Who is going after anyone?

Attendees were very happy to harass the venue on social media publicly and damage their reputation through review bombing (including review bombs from people who didn’t even go to the con) for the heinous crime of… kicking people out who broke the rules. Why not publicly address them, too?

And by parties I mean groups involved, not the literal parties lol

You’d rather the con be less honest about the circumstances of the venue cutting ties? You know people would’ve complained about that too, right? This could’ve had legal implications for all parties, why should the convention be quiet about it?

More than one thing can be true at once. Furcation can and should acknowledge poor behaviour from attendees and expect and advocate for better while also looking into claims about the venue’s attitude towards attendees (though I’ve heard plenty of people got on with the staff just fine!)

Those attendees made a choice to not follow code of conduct and are now upset they got caught. The rest of us don’t need to defend them. In every other community the people that fuck around find out, why do furries have to kiss ass to members who show no respect to the community with their actions?

And I’ve heard people who went to the convention say those numbers are accurate and they saw as much. I actually think the members of the community who do class A drugs and then destroy their accommodation because they’re angry about getting caught make our community look worse.

Zero drug use isn’t what I’m advocating for here lol and never have.

And from what I hear, they didn’t use them very discreetly. I have no issue with people using drugs, but to then make it everyone else’s problem when they get caught doing something against code of conduct is one of many examples of groups involved not taking responsibility.

I honestly don’t even see how this response from Furcation was unprofessional. But I guess we can’t talk about attendees who caused criminal damages taking accountability without entirely absolving the venue of their misgivings. Doing the former automatically also means doing the latter apparently 🙄

And I wonder how attendees having 30+ member coke parties makes the event look. Let’s be real, this response from Furcation is entirely justified, and it isn’t the center stage poor conduct we should be focusing on.

Honestly, if I was Furcation staff, I’d be pissed too. Got any real criticisms beyond tone policing?

Don’t see why so many people are calling this response unprofessional (without explaining in what way 🙄). Maybe the offending attendees can learn to take accountability for once for their shitty conduct instead of acting like victims? You break the rules, you face consequences. That simple.
