A mock windfarm set up on Donald Trump's Turnberry golf course
Activists with @greenpeaceuk.bsky.social just pulled off an incredible stunt at Trump's Turnberry Golf course.
Wind is essential for our energy security but we've got to make sure communities and workers in Scotland see the benefit from those wind farms!

Meet the Dancing Ladies on the Isle of Gigha!
The Dancing Ladies are made up of three community-owned turbines named Charity, Faith, and Hope.
The Dancing Ladies generate 675 kW of energy and make £150,000 a year for the community.
We need this everywhere across Scotland!

It's hard not to be a giant fan of more money in your community.
Tilley is good. We love Tilley.
Tilley, a community-owned wind turbine on the isle of Tiree. It sits just beyond a fence on top of a hill.
Meet Tilley.
Tilley is a A single 900kW community turbine on the isle of Tiree. She delivers over 100 times more economic value per unit of capacity than the privately owned wind farms.
We need a Tilley for every community in Scotland
Juliet, from @cescotland.bsky.social, has got it right.
Our energy can either enrich billionaires or empower our communities.
It's up to us to get them to make the right choice.
In Scotland, we don't need more business as usual. We need a complete transformation of our energy system.
We need community-owned energy, manufacturing in Scotland, and a public stake in offshore wind!
The world’s top 100 oil and gas companies are earning over $30 million per hour in windfall profits due to recent energy shocks
Our bills going up is not inevitable. There is money in the system, it's about who is getting it. We need #EnergyForAll

In places like Aberdeen, our lives are completely up to the whims of the market.
We need to put our energy security firmly in the hands of our communities with more Scotland-based manufacturing and community-owned energy!
New research shows that communities across Scotland could benefit by £500 million per year.
How? Through a Scottish Community Wealth Fund paid into by commercial renewables developers.

"More than £500 million from renewable energy developments could be channelled into Scottish communities over the next decade."

Meet the new community-owned wind turbine in North Ayrshire. All profits from electricity sold will stay within the community.
The new 2.5MW Kilbirnie wind turbine will fund important local improvements like a new employment hub, training opportunities, improved transport links, and upgrades to sports facilities.
How would your town use money from a community-owned turbine?

Communities are seeing wind turbines go up, but seeing the profits going elsewhere. Workers were promised jobs from the shift to clean energy, but too many are still waiting.
We can't wait any longer.

@ewangibbs.bsky.social, a historian of energy and work at the University of Glasgow, joined us at our launch last week and reflected on our campaign demands around a public stake in wind.
It's time to demand a more fair energy system in Scotland that puts our communties and workers first!
We're demanding...
-A public stake in off shore wind.
-More public backing for manufacturing renewables in Scotland.
-More backing for community-owned energy.
On Tiree, in the Hebrides, they have a 900 kW community-owned wind turbine they've named Tilley.
We love her.
It’s not surprising the public overwhelmingly supports community ownership of renewable energy, rather than big corporate developers, when you see all the benefits the income from local ownership brings to people.

'Renewables are the future of Scotland’s energy but we’re at risk of repeating the mistakes of the past. We let the profits from oil and gas disappear into the pockets of corporations. We need to see more ambition from government so it doesn't happen again.'

In Aberdeen, we saw all of the profits from our oil go to big corporations. We can't let that happen with renewables!
We need good, union jobs for workers in Scotland and community-owned energy.
