I was already sold on the idea of making a day to commemorate this yesterday, but last night’s miserably anxious night has convinced me it’s nothing short of a necessity rn.
May 6th, 2025 will be Transliterary Preservation Day. Thank you @adaframe.bsky.social for sparking this.

Okay, here’s the deal: RIGHT NOW is the time for concrete, direct action.
If you’re following me, it’s probably because you care about trans art and trans literature. The article below lays out my suggestions for dozens of concrete actions you can take to preemptively combat literary censorship.
Trans archivist Ben Power could use some help right now. A lot of people don't know about Ben's Sexual Minorities Archives, which he's been running for fifty years (!) as his identity and the organization have evolved. Let's give him a hand up if we can.

COURTSHIP EXTRAORDINARY. The most extraordinary case of this kind of which we remember to have heard has been brought to light within the last few days at Moulton, in this county. The circumstances are briefly these;— About seven years ago a girl of 16, named Catherine Coombe, married her first cousin, a painter of the same name, at Cheltenham, of which town they were both natives. After some time they came to reside at Bedford, where the wife assumed the male attire and the name of Fred, and passed as the son of her husband, working with him at his trade. In the same house with them lodged a Miss Smith, a straw bonnet maker, who fell in love with Fred, and Fred reciprocated the affection, and passed himself off and was received as Miss Smith's sweetheart. The intimacy has now lasted between them five months, Fred sleeping every night with the painter, and Miss Smith entertaining no doubt whatever that her lover was a man. Three weeks ago they all three came to reside at Moulton, whither they were followed by Miss Smith's father, who received a letter from Cheltenham stating that his daughter was keeping company, not with a male, but with a female, and that the supposed father of the latter was in reality her husband. Fred, on being taxed with the deception, admitted the truth of the charge, to the no small surprise of poor Miss Smith. The police then took Fred into custody, and escorted him to Northampton on Wednesday last, when be was brought before the county magistrates and remanded. He-we con- tinue the masculine gender-is now 23 years of age, of middle height, slender, and of handsome features. His hair is closely cropped, and he is dressed in a black glazed cap, cloth coat, greyish vest and trousers, and Balmoral boots. The motives for his conduct are hitherto inexplicable, and even the husband, who brings him food to the station-house, does not attempt to unravel them.

hi! regarding our BEST TRANS HORROR OF THE YEAR reprint anthology. we are looking for authors who identify as trans only because we specifically want to platform (and pay) trans voices.
My sophomore short film, "Cruel Images", is out.
It examines the now-forgotten 1941 German blockbuster "Uncle Kruger", an epic about the Boer War and the British concentration camps in south Africa, filmed while a Nazi concentration camp operated only 20 miles away from set.

They give an amazing kick up the ass when you need to be told to "just make something"
a few founding principles to keep up here by the pinned skeet:
- state borders are inherently violent; free palestine
- support for the land back movement
- recognize and oppose transmisogyny
- focus on low environmental-impact practices that center worker's rights
- A.I. can fuck off
I'm planning on opening submissions for a zine of trans-centered historical fiction in Spring 2025.
Haptera Press, run by @algaeross.bsky.social, aims to be a home for trans-authored stories with a special interest in historical settings that contextualize our past, present and future. Initially I aim to publish digital zines, but my hope is to eventually be able to offer limited print runs.

"Haptera" is the plural term for a complex tangle of roots that anchor algal plants like kelp and lichen to the substrates they grow in. Also known as a "holdfast."
