I’ve been to Norway twice and was very impressed by the intense waterfall action and the incredible drops to sea level in the fjords. Spectacular for HEP.

You should look at how well domestic panels do in the UK from November to March, it’s not great and that’s when energy use is highest. Rest of the year is generally good but it really hits the payback time of the panels. The UK doesn’t get much snow either, so we lose that gain as well.

Norway has unusual geography, it really isn’t helpful to hold it up as an example to other countries. In addition, Norway exports huge amounts of oil and gas to other countries where it contributes to global CO2 emissions.

It does, though. The UK is not an ideal candidate for reliance on solar power due to latitude and weather. Wind power is the opposite, but we know there can be days at a time when wind power is no good. We have some HEP but need more. Coal is our most significant energy resource, still.
