One time in grad school I was working on paleography all day and saw a Wendy's ad that said their new salad had 11 varieties of greens. I was like "Two isn't that much for a mixed green salad..."

A screenshot of the Google AI overview that reads "Monica Green is a historian who researched the Black Death, but she is not the cause of the plague. The Black Death's death toll is estimated to have killed 40% to 60% of the population in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa during the 14th century, with a total of 50 million people in Europe alone."

Icon of Saint Christopher as a cynocephalus, or dog-headed man

Burning question from my medieval lit class about Saint Christopher: After he was blessed with the gift of human speech, did he talk like Scooby Doo?

Classic cover of Wide Sargasso Sea with Jean Rhys, picturing a white woman with black hair dressed in a nineteenth century shawl. She is surrounded by tropical plants.

Just read Wide Sargasso Sea for the first time. Great novel, but I was really hoping it would shed more light on the whole eel situation.

I mentioned to my family that I was thinking about getting some William Morris posters, and my brother-in-law asked who he was. I said, "He's a famous wallpaper guy." BiL: "There are famous wallpaper guys???" Me: "There's at least one!"

My great aunt used to turn down invitations by saying that her books were due back to the library soon so she had to stay home and read that night

I think I am in a math textbook, because the Amtrak employee just came out and said two trains are coming from east and west, and the one going east is late, and she's not sure which one will arrive first.

A bathroom selfie of me wearing a grey blazer and a t-shirt that says "Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government" and a graphic of the hand of the Lady of the Lake holding Excalibur aloft.

I mean, it's looking like a more viable system of government every day. Can't wait for Day 1 of ICMS! #medievalsky #icms2025

I had a cab driver in London who pointed out Hyde Park and said "That's a lovely place to rent a bike and go for a ride. HYDE PARK ONLY. DO NOT RIDE A BIKE ANYWHERE ELSE."

Just voted! I'm going to be out of town for advance and regular voting, and I wasn't sure about the timing of a mail ballot, but it's very easy to do seven days a week at the Elections Canada office. Let's keep Canada from falling to the dark side!

My partner just showed up to the one on 6th St and 10th Ave, even though it said it was fully booked, and managed to get in. And I have had ok luck with the one on Scott Road and 84

I think part of it is (likely intentionally manipulative) bad writing. The piece slides from number of partners to vaginal sex acts without flagging a difference.

A friend and I stopped by Cahokia on a road trip to Saint Louis several years ago, and I had never heard of it. I was fully losing my mind at how cool it was.

The point of having official languages is to protect minority language speakers, not oppress them.

As a Canadian uni student, I was surprised that the US didn't have an official lang - I assumed they were like flags. Then my Linguistics prof explained the English-as-an-Official-Language movement...
