The article I linked to above states that the model of the spool tape with the launch would've costed £100 in 1964, which is rather scary thinking about how much that would be in today's money
Considering the average cost of tapes in the 60s, no less the fact that they were routinely bulk erased/wiped at the time, it's remarkable that an unexpected find at the BBC Research and Development is the sole reason footage of the launch exists at all

Always nice when a memorable advert campaign from your generation gets reimagined by the same company 20+ years later for future generations
A YouTube comment quoting one of Jim Bowen's catchphrases on Bullseye, which is taken a bit too literally by the reply below it

Oddly enough there was a period that computers under this and the Tiny Computers brands in mid 2002 after the former bought the latter which always struck me as unusual then

And re Yolly, a shameless Internet Archive plug on what she'd have been presenting nearly 23 years ago to the day well before ITV Play

In hindsight, it's astonishing during the brand's short lifespan on how many obscure/well known TV personalities from yesteryear presented most of the shows (Yiolanda Koppel, Simeon Courtie etc). Almost as if the concept of phone in shows was a novelty for them as it was to night owls then
Paramount Comedy also did a few spoofs of that announcer style with their own voiceover for a while as well

They did later bring back IVC for a while during the circles era around 1997, though it was slightly odd in that it was a camera in the announcer's booth, but they carried on as though it wasn't there

Won't take a detective to figure out what's aged the most like milk out of this schedule... :/
Randomly remembered this overlooked spoof of the BBC One virtual globe yesterday from Space Ghost, probably one of the few CN shows of the era that parodied the globe symbol from the channel

Some CBeebies continuity (and a bit of an ad break from Nick Jr) from November 2004 is the last of today's uploads, around Story Makers, Balamory and Come Outside, including a trail for their Bedtime Hour slot as if we needed an explanation for it
One of those rare occasions when a worthy upload gets recommended to you on YouTube, this one being a retrospective on local TV in the UK during the 90s and 00s, from the fondly remembered Channel M to obscure ones like Lanarkshire TV

Second of today's uploads is some continuity and adverts from Boomerang UK around November 2004, between Scooby Doo and Taz-Mania, with promos for FHFIF on Cartoon Network and another for a red button game from when red button games were the real deal in UK interactive TV

Well, that was a momentous day here yesterday, wasn't it?
Anyway, the first of today's uploads is an advert break from Sky Sports during coverage of the India vs Pakistan cricket match from February 1996, including ones for Nescafe, Littlewoods and Nissan
Not quite the same thing, but for me it was when The Saturday Show had reached the end of it's second series in September 2003, and then being amazingly disappointed with how generic it looked from when it returned the following year as a summer replacement

It certainly was still aired on the channel well into August 2004, so it had a decent run in terms of homegrown programmes on there

I see BlueSky is running well today.
So from the outage here earlier today, I figured this upload of mine from December 2024 would be worth linking again...

Granada Plus ident on a silver CRT TV
OnDigital placeholders on silver and black CRT TVs, with the price for OnPrePaid shown on screen for a price of £99
An example of a defunct TV channel appearing in a defunct retailer nearly 12 minutes in too, with Granada Plus and Comet being the case in this instance (and OnDigital for defunct digital service too)

Today's upload is a compilation of continuity and adverts from LWT from the 10th December 2000, during Cold Feet and leading into Smash, featuring adverts for Rebok, BT, Babyliss and Coldplay amongst others
It's also funny to think that Gareth Jones presented one of Discovery Kids' original shows (seen here at the beginning to 3:01) too during his time on The Big Bang given that the show would later have a repeat run on the channel from the year after the below clip until 2007

I'd imagine How 2 is probably the most memorable of the edutainment shows CITV had given that it had the longest run into the mid 00s, plus had a fair amount of show variations during said run. I've always felt that both that and Big Bang were great in their own right regardless though
Memories of seeing repeats of the first 6 series of this on Discovery Kids many moons ago, and them for whatever reason removing the YTV/Granada Kids endcap at the end on most eps they showed
Ah yes, the forgotten occasional supplement to Blu Rays of movies in the early to mid 2010s listed first there, which has faded out of public memory probably more so than CD ROMs or even HD-DVDs have

An assortment of BBC Two continuity links (schools strand, CBBC Two and regular BBC Two) from April 2001 was the second of said uploads, around the likes of DynaMo, Come Outside and Trade Secrets, with trails for shows like Malcom in the Middle and Happiness throughout

A slice of BBC regional continuity with BBC One Yorkshire from October 2004 was the first of yesterday's uploads, around Neighbours, the Six O'Clock news and Look North, accompanied by trails for a Panorama special on knife crime (sadly relevant 21 years later) and Venice
Saying that, the final 2 series of the show does have its moments here and there, like the clip below

Always feels a tad ironic that Ant and Dec made an appearance on this edition specifically given that their own foray into Saturday mornings 2 years later was the main reason behind Live and Kicking's decline
