genuinely stupid, middle management is a hard hard job, and the glue of companies. Any exec (or IC) who thinks this is a bullshit job is, charitably, not paying attention to how companies actually operate
I have a lot of frustrations with the tech industry but perhaps the biggest one is that they're constantly pushing every new fad as "the inevitable future".
It's always, "adopt this, buy that, or you'll be left behind."
This worked in the smart phone launch era but it hasn't worked for awhile now.
I would just like to point out that the Ford government has relied on the private sector to meet its own housing targets and failed spectacularly.

Attributing 10-15% of a student's final grade to attendance is asinine and will disproportionately harm disabled students, poor students, and students with unstable homes, aka the most vulnerable students.

I sure hope this doesn't extend beyond the short-term, with the reduction in tax revenue used as further justification for more austerity. Meanwhile, *increased* dependence on fossil fuels, more subsidies, and no windfall or increased corporate taxes. 🤷

- Often doesn't pass through to consumers (fossil co's just pocket it)
- Benefits enjoyed more by the rich (who drive bigger cars longer distances)
- Decreases gov't revenue so you end up paying for it in different ways
Cutting gas taxes is temporary. Corporations will eat that up within a month. It brings no relief to marginalized people who don’t own a car. Transit is not going to drop their fares. Grocery chains will not pass on transportation savings to you.
This should be at least half of the curriculum in every tech formal education. Learn the value of patience. Learn to respect others. Learn how to collaborate with others. Learn that tech is a means to improve the world for all of us.

Saving up to $2k/year on property taxes doesn't mean much when you're forced to spend $10k/year on a car because transit is so bad and bike paths aren't plowed, plus the added cost of maintaining that car due pothole-ridden roads the city can't afford to resurface

Low taxes bring us an $11b backlog in infrastructure; a failing transit system; crumbling sidewalks and parks; and FTR it’s not just about the amount of taxes, but how they’re spent: we could spend smarter, deliver better and create #OurBestOttawa w/better approaches.
One of the things that is so positive about the transformation of Paris is it was FAST. Converting a choked polluted city into a space for humans to thrive, move, and enjoy can be done within a decade. It’s within reach today: we just have to elect leaders that care about people more than cars.

Police need to step up enforcement including at the source: mechanic shops who performed these sort of modifications, should be fined and put out of business.
