When my boyfriend got back to the Airbnb we had a big fight. Much later I realized that the Airbnb and presumably the jacket had belonged to someone of quite close social proximity to me in the NYC media/film world. Which is a inconsequential and vaguely creepy secret I have kept for years.

By the end of the night I was in love with the jacket but but wisely too scared to wear it again. And the weather got warmer so I didn't need it, anyway. Lucky for me nothing stupid happened to it that night, despite it being a very accident-prone era of my life.

It was a men's jacket and oversized on me and I felt very cool but like I was playing a character I hadn't properly done my method research for. Anyway we had a fun night and someone took a photo of me in the jacket wearing some googly eyed glasses and it's still my profile photo on Spotify.

But as we were getting ready to go I realized it was much colder than it had been, and I didn't really bring a proper coat, being an LA dimwit and all. So feeling a bit guilty but also being high I grabbed the Airbnb host's leather jacket off the coat rack and off we went.

And my boyfriend was going to a wedding upstate, but I wasn't invited I guess, which in hindsight is insane. So while he was away one of my chaotic friends who had recently moved to New York from LA came over to the Airbnb and we did a bunch of drugs and decided to go to some party in Bushwick.

Something I think about a lot is how I never used to be a leather jacket person. But a long time ago my boyfriend at the time and I went to New York for a week and stayed in an Airbnb. And I hadn't been to NYC in 5 years, and it was maybe the third time ever I'd been, so I packed all wrong.

I think writing your stories with AI so you can "focus on reporting" is both disrespectful to your audience and a guarantee that you don't do good reporting, because you're clearly not a fan of quality information. Negative levels of respect for people that do this.
