I don't know I needed to read this. It lays out things that have been visible since Jan 6 2021.

Foolish isn't the word I'd use, vicious is close, but yes.
Whew! Epstein's buddy changed to the correct party, and thank God for that.
the one causing them pain -- eventually the left remembers that conservatives hate them more than they hate each other.
... on a forum back around 2000, and knew Al Gore was in *trouble.*
But eventually the "left," which includes a bunch of POC and feminists and LGBTQ and economic white male socialists, all of whom are conservative in every part of their lives except ...
Gotta let people be wrong. Everyone's carrying their own stuff.
The option to that is to be a conservative, regimented down to the last atom of opinion they're allowed to hold and express. The way we do it is ugly at times -- I recall gay men sneering at feminists, and vice versa ...
Catching up on Daredevil. Watching him beat ICE thugs half to death is very satisfying.
V 2.0, I'm sure.
I *do* think there's a role for a basic safety net -- free health care, basic income. But yeah.
It's possible the world accepts the U.S. back into the community of civilized nations in a generation ... if we do the work.
If our fash use nukes in the war they started, we're Germany, best case: three generations or more (*after* denuclearization) to be wholly trusted again.
Jan 6 terrorists climbing the walls outside the Capitol. Caption: "More pardoned J6ers have been convicted in child SA cases than trans people in the last year."
When I call Republicans "the party of child rapists," I'm not only talking about Trump.
These rube-Nazis are vicious and stupid. Oh, they're going to lie about voting for Trump, because they're cowards as well as rubes, but they'll never stop marinating in their own resentment. They'd have to get better to do that, and they lack the moral strength, intelligence, and willpower to do it.
All of us have disappointments in our lives. Places we failed. Missteps in careers, missteps in the arts, for those of us who are artists. Missteps with the people in our lives. But at the end of it all there's just you. You may not be what you wanted to be, but are you who you wanted to be? I am exactly who I wanted to be when I was younger. (Well, not a grandfather yet. But I have hopes there.) I don't know what more you can really ask for. The only thing you can control in the world is the quality of your effort. And if, by that effort, you get to the end feeling good about yourself? You're a winner, buddy.
What a decent President says.
Heh. I've avoided reading reviews for decades, but "live off the rain and dirt" is going to stay with me.
It is not a conspiracy anymore.
Absolutely delighted that The Folded Sky (books2read.com/thefoldedsky/) and "The Witch and the Wyrm" (torpublishinggroup.com/the-witch-an...) are shortlisted for the Locus Awards!
We are.
I really like that.
If I, me personally, went back in time to talk to my younger self, and told him that all the conservatives he knew were either Nazis who were hiding it, or weak people who would go Nazi when the people around them did ...
... I'm not sure I could convince him.
It's been an interesting life.
25th amendment requires 2/3rds majorities in both the House and Senate. If I was a Dem, I wouldn't give it to them without something in return.
I *do* think better of fascist scumbags who hate Trump.
But they're still bad people. Don't praise them.
I'm certainly enjoying retirement.
Amusingly, "What Are Little Girls Made Of," Uhura and Chapel kiss. It's a very friendly little peck, though.
But to return to the actual post, if you want to generate a list of current SF writers who aren't raging assholes, I wouldn't stop you.
It's not a problem for me. I just watched the show.
The four of them I did meet, all of them were perfectly pleasant, and two of them are/were great friends.

Dorothy Fontana spoke well of him. He died young, and I never met him, so I have no first hand experience. (True of a few of those I *did* name, though, so there's that.)
The whole thing with Fredric Brown's Arena has always set wrong with me, though that's *certainly* more Roddenberry than Coon.
I won't bore you with the story I'd tell, if they made me God. I'm not sure the current timeline is salvageable, lot of bad decisions there. But I will say there's no way I'd do another prequel series. Give people something new.
