Production order documents obtained by CBC provide more details on the sexual assault investigation involving former cabinet minister Scott Fielding. Story here: www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Search warrant docs are revealing what police knew about a disgraced Winnipeg officer now in prison for corruption — and when they knew it.
A publication ban on those docs was lifted after CBC fought it in court (shout out @kristinannable.bsky.social).

I have over 20 records requests that are overdue. These are legislated timelines that say the government must release the records in your request by 45 days. This is consistently being ignored.
For example: On July 7 I requested Richard Madan's salary and a breakdown of the Washington office budget. Over 100 days later and I still don't have this record. A spokesperson released his salary to us last week, but we are still waiting on the rest. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
This story reflects a lot of what journalists are experiencing right now with FOI. Records taking months to be released, unnecessary fees, and responses that lead to an Ombudsman complaint.

“Newly released report” is not the way a media outlet should cite a report they obtained by asking gov’t for a copy another media outlet got by filing a FIPPA. Give credit where credit is due.
In Alberta — the only other province that has paper cards — a 2015 AG report said the lack of expiry dates on Alberta health cards leave them open to abuse, meaning the province could be paying for health care of ineligible recipients.

Manitoba finally got plastic health cards but as @ianfroese.bsky.social reports, the $6M cards miss key things found in other provinces:
1) no expiry date
2) no photo
3) the digital component that was supposed to roll out at the same time is delayed

The East St. Paul daycare is one of 22 daycares that were project-managed by JohnQ Public Inc. The current NDP government has asked the province's auditor general to review whether that project followed procurement rules.

Yesterday, we told you about what police did in the lead up to the arrest of the man accused of killing Crystal Saunders. Today, we remind you about who she was: a woman who was loved and is missed everyday.

My colleagues in the investigative unit obtained search warrant docs that shed light into what led police to arrest the man accused of killing Crystal Saunders. Read about it here:

Did you know that Manitoba regulates the cost of 1L milk? It has a max cost between $1.93-$2.10. This weekend, Walmart suddenly jacked the price to $2.88. Once CBC started asking questions -- they brought the price back to the set maximum.
