I am having the time of my life, yeah. This has honestly been a great YEAR for gaming (if you like nostalgic JRPGs I guess)
>I finish Unicorn Overlord

Is the post office watching me play video games through the window or what??
Aaaaaaa YAS! Premodern medicine! Portrayed with respect! Thatβs my college special interest fellas! ππ
Pre-modern medicine-people were for sure some of the OG detectives, & even irl achieved way more than most give em credit for!
They were just operating with less information than we have today. π§
Sending positive energy your way!
The abject sadness of spending a day cleaning up every speck of dust in your kitchen only to see food scraps reemerge within hours of completing the task
I actually feel a lot better now after my husband (who is an editor, but not on the book I'm working on) sat down with my draft today and told me every little thing I did wrong. LOL.
I think what gets to me is knowing that there are definitely translation mistakes that were never caught 'cos the editors don't read Japanese. At ANN, my interviews were always cross-checked by a native JP speaker, and everything I wrote always had SOMETHING to correct, however small.
Well, maybe that's just how it is with me. I've never been satisfied with my work ever. It's why I quit journalism. The voice in my head telling me that I was incompetent never stopped so I listened to it and felt happy when I quit. But it looks like it's gonna happen with every job I ever do.
Um, tbh, I haven't been that satisfied with my translation work so far. I send off my manuscript into the ether and never hear back about it ever. Then I read the final book and hate the sentences I wrote.
Thank you!
Translator credit on the cover? In your dreams
Thanks :)
A weird feeling to see my name in a print book. Everything I've ever written/translated up to this point was digital/online-only.
When I was younger, I never bothered listening to reviews because I was like "The only person who can decide whether I enjoy something is ME"
Now I'm older and see the point of maximising my limited free time...even if I am still the ultimate judge of whether I'm having fun...
Spent this weekend catching up on Frieren (fell behind when the mage exam arc started). It's no longer the show it was at the start but I won't complain about the fun action!
Yep! She's also pretty popular for doing the designs in the Osamake novels
Right now I'm busy judging stuff for the JNC contest, so my LN backlog is growing. Here's the stuff I wanna read when I finally have time!
Finished J-Novel Club's release of Chivalry of a Failed Knight, volume 1
It's been too long since I read the Sol Press translation, so I can't compare (not much point now, anyway). But I enjoyed experiencing the story again. The horny parts are just as intense as the battles!
Every time I watch an idol anime, I feel like a basic shonen anime fan cos my weeb power levels aren't high enough to fully appreciate the vibe π€₯
doing the lord's work
Yeah but NicoMaki fandom gave us Last and First Idol so it can't be THAT bad of a ship
Every girl who was an overachiever in high school needs to watch Skip and Loafer to feel seen, heard, and wanted

Thanks for reminding me that Yuki Yaku is on here now!
Ooooooh! The Japanese fanartists are now on Bluesky in full force! Nice!
Really appreciate how Alicization changed things up big-time, but it is kinda a messy arc overall
Continued my SAO Alicization re-read (volumes 12-14).
This is where the arc ends right? There's no war or shit afterwards. Kirito, Eugeo, and Alice defeat Administrator, and they all live happily ever after.........right??
