Measles has been found in wastewater in Coeur d'Alene (in North Idaho) consistently over the past month. You wouldn't know it from the lack of measles cases being reported to the public health department. data.wastewaterscan.org/tracker/?cha...

It shouldn't have come to this and i can only hope that seeing the overwhelming majority of staff walk out today opens management's eyes and convinces them we're serious about our demands.

Especially considering that ProPublica is a non-profit that was founded to create a professional home for investigative journalists.
There’s no way to replace the kind of reporting ProPublica does with AI. That’s not how investigative journalism happens-which they should know better than anyone.
There's no potential universe where AI replaces investigative journalists and the work gets done at anywhere near the same quality and accuracy.
Shame on @propublica.org management. And I say that as a subscriber! Your staff does great work and investigative journalism is something our society needs and machines cannot do. Get a deal done!

Today, I and the rest of the @propublicaguild.org are on strike. Why? Because we deserve a fair contract - one that locks in just cause, AI protections, and fair wages for all union members.
I genuinely do not understand management's refusal to agree to basic protections, like that they won't replace us with AI. It's baffling. Makes no sense. We're on strike to show management how serious we are about this, and how eager we are to get a contract done!
