In uk money management advice widely advises comparing energy suppliers and switching to better deals. Here? 🤷

“It hampers the ability for the region to grow, if we don’t see more people move to transit.”
I think that ship has sailed, people are actively leaving or seeking to leave.
Thank you, Andrew Pullin fund. I’ve been interested in same but am not architectural background. The effect of local geology on built environment and related industrial settlement patterns. Coalville, Leicestershire a good example. Bricks/clay/coal seams.
This looks fascinating. Truly wish I was there.
“If Halifax becomes a place where workers, renters, and young families cannot afford to stay, then Nova Scotia loses more than affordability. It loses economic depth”

This.
Thank you, that helps, the validation.
I want so badly to love it here.
And then after transit inadequacy there is this reality. I honestly feel like I’m experiencing a constructive dismissal by my chosen hometown.
Halifax buses are not fit for purpose, and relying on them for anything with a time stamp is officially causing major anxiety in my daily life.
Oh joy….
Brilliant.
Incredibly beautiful.
What has made HRM such a lawless place in favour of cars? Genuine question. Why is it like this here? I don’t understand it at all.
Agree, not enough.
Every single regular pedestrian experiences frequent close calls due to infrastructure enabled left turns on green during the walk sign, also right on green and red. Many are struck. This is an unacceptable hazard and normality that must be addressed, system-wide.
Thank you. Had a shaky day yesterday, knowing how it might have turned out. But it didn’t, and today is a new day.
There are rumours…
Thank you.
A car grazed me, full body, turning right on red from Cogswell to Upper Water.I had the green man. I fell backwards. He drove on and away. That was as close as I’ve been to being hit by a car and I’m very shaken.

FULL MOON JUST ROSE OVER DARTMOUTH, CAN YOU SEE IT??!!!
The cost of urban sprawl in HRM is playing out in real time with peninsular car infrastructure needs outstripping physical possibility. Investment in alternative travel would enable sustainable growth in this town. I’d call it a city, but with current transit options, it’s an impossible label.
Bus stop this morning. That was bout 1.5 ft to step over. Was with someone who couldn’t manage it. We waved down bus from a busy nearby drive way. A full 24 hours after the storm. Really is this good enough? #halisky
It was really that bad... and now a little more coming tonight and tomorrow
Seen on FBook. @halifaxnoise.bsky.social
I love this and so wish HRM had anything passing for a similar vision for Halifax.
Last year, five pedestrians were struck and killed in HRM within the first six months, & over 20 fatalities were reported by August (total for year tbc)
Follow-up joint advocacy with HRM requesting a detailed action plan was unsuccessful. This is the response from the Province (thread)
That’s giving Scarfolk Council vibes. @scarfolk.bsky.social
… ‘had’ just come on. Whoops!
Day before yesterday was almost struck by a vehicle while crossing Lacewood at Willet. The crossing light has just come on, I stepped out and a pickup truck nearly ran over my feet turning right on red.
Right on red is dangerous.
