I mean I don't think that's really true at all and we don't do ourselves any favors by acting like it is. Though the core point that we should bring transportation costs down in Austin is important
I feel like it's gotta happen sooner or later that we do an Austin FC event in South Congress or Congress Avenue. The one in Auditorium Shores was really cool!
GoFundMe has set up a page for the Texan flood victims. Each campaign has been verified by the company's Trust & Safety experts, which means you know your money is going directly to families. Please consider donating if you can. Their stories are heartbreaking.

Hey BlueSky
@austinmonthly.bsky.social has put together an incredible resource of all of the ways you can donate / help folks in the wake of the recent, devastating floods
You can view those in their article here:
Lengths people will go to not* lol
The lengths people will go to actually reforming public schools to focus on helping kids excel and growth is beyond me. We give up on solving hard problems and instead give a massive hand up to the upper classes as a golden parachute out of ones of the greatest public goods ever invented
It's honestly kind of insane to me that the people who decry subsidies and how things like first time homebuyer programs just increase prices line up straight behind one of the most insane ways to waste public money while getting worse outcomes.
Way too close for comfort we gotta pump those numbers up!
Heartbreaking to see Austin merely beating the competition instead of lapping them
Thank you for your leadership on housing Senator!
Biggest upzoning in American history for now
π I regret nothing and you'll never catch me alive
With this much tree growth, you could say the city has caught... the cedar fever
Now that's what I call architecture
The biggest failure of Texas is that of focus. If we, as a people, just focussed for a few years on really committing to a strong vision of the future we'd leave any other competition in the dust. Half measures and culture war distractions have been so extraordinarily damaging to the state
Even when they discuss the dangerous and radical things some in the state they to do they miss why and how it happens. And they miss all of the great and wonderful things that happen at every level every year.
As a broad rule I try to ignore online and political discussions about Texas since they're so far outside of reality as to be useful. As a Texan, it's best to just focus on making our home better and let others keep talking while their states continue to sink deeper and deeper
I continue to be somewhat amazed and confounded by the role Texas plays in political discussions. Less a real place where real people live and more a metaphysical object to be rebuked or idolized by people who know less than nothing of the state
This is a pretty bold anti demon stance Parker. Have you considered how demons play to swing voters in Maricopa County? Hard to say without doing at least a few dozen polls
How can we be sure of anything without first mathematically proving the true metaphysics of the universe really gotta wait at least 10 more years before doing anything
I don't know how we could even start to fix this problem but the current system of low cost and subsidized housing is way too hard to navigate and biased towards people with insider connections

I wrote about Pope Francis.

"We've never fully committed to nuking the economy" lol
Big fan of the new episode of @jackcraver.bsky.social's podcast ft. @vanessaforatx.bsky.social - urban-affairs.simplecast.com/episodes/van.... Especially loved the discussion around how she engages with her constituents and why Republicans have been gaining ground with Latinos
Many people are saying that this is the place to be on Wednesday
I'm out on travel right now but I'm back by Tuesday and I'm 100% down
Awesome stuff on the horizon for Austin
