It's what happens when people are terminally online and they make fandoms their own identity; if someone imposes on their favorite show/character/ship, even if it's done in a mature way, these people will go ape tits in the worst way.
Oh for sure, and it's usually folks that are so comfortable with their own online anonymity they won't think twice to spit the most rancid fire at the least deserving people. It's really fucking sad.
On top of that, people need to get a better grip on empathy skills online. Hiding anonymously and making cut-throat comments like this is just pure cowardice and unhinged behavior on full display. It's even scarier when they don't know or care about the repercussions.
This is a rough read; no creator should be told to go "die in agony" especially when they are rightfully speaking in concern over their work getting plagiarized. I know Glitch can't wrangle every toxic 'fan', but following up with the creator on the issue is the very least they can do.

- Show vs Tell; I've seen gorgeous comics that end up flooded by speech bubbles or walls of text that barely give artwork room to breathe. Usually from describing a situation, backstory or lore. Comics are a visual storytelling device, use it to your advantage when introducing such details!
- As you level up your comic skills, you may be tempted to revisit old comics and re-draw them entirely. Don't do this! I fell into this pitfall multiple times, and all it does is keep you stuck in a loop without forward progression.
- If you get discouraged by lack of engagement when you make your comic just remember; there is an audience for every genre, no matter how niche. Your work WILL be found as long as you stay consistent. Also keep in mind the quiet appreciators that may not leave comments but still enjoy what you do.
Five more days until I leave CA.
It's been wild five year ride, and I don't regret any moment of it. Come February I'll be living out the next great chapter of my life. Can't wait!
