Gonna be real with you I'm probably not going to flick through a carousel on stuff I don't know

Every art director posting artist advice: “use a grid format for your portfolio. Don’t make me click through your images one at a time to see them.”

I think he unblocked the list (I can view his profile) so you'd have to check your membership on it via clearsky

Quiet Posters feed not working

Quiet Posters feed not working

why.bsky.team subscribed to the anti anti ai block list, blocking over 300 000 users

If you wonder why the "Quiet Posters" feed doesn't work for you anymore, it is because the @why.bsky.team subscribed to an anti-anti-ai block list, rendering it useless for over 300 000 users. Good job bsky team!!

oh my god I think that list blocks everyone who blocked Attie. I have an alt for specific reasons that got added to that list 2 days after blocking Attie.

it's a deeply alliterative and context-dependent language so you end up with this feeling that you're in an argument with some sort of regime that interprets what you're saying within a specific lens and interpretation like the monkeys paw of translations

Like it constantly messes up basic shit, e.g. "lei" and "Lei" are 'her' and "you [formal]," respectively. The capitalization is grammatical. However google constantly just translates either as the other depending on, like, idk, the vibes of the machine to engage in some flippant probabilistic act

When I go to write in Italian, & I know that anyone (onlookers, person I'm talking to) might or will use Google Translate, I run what I'm saying through it. Which is really frustrating given that Google Translate started bad and has only gotten worse over time

However, the rationalization used at the start of the film, and the context of that language, was used 50 years before the film to sterilize otherwise healthy people for having an iq of 80 based on fears that it was hereditary. The film does later contravene its own introduction narratively, yes.

I'd agree the movie exceeds the premise it starts with, and largely uses that premise as parody. I also agree with you that stimulation and education is important.

'Idiocracy' Is Bad, Actually You know who'd find the movie hilarious? Hitler.

This vice article cites a lot more sources on the topic. Eugenicism was very much in vogue in the turn of the 19th-20th cent so people were open with discussing it and their motivations supporting it in writing, law, and organization at the time

The intro to the film is a recap of Francis Galton's theories of Behavioral Genetics, e.g. the idea that intelligence is hereditary, & plays off fears that feeble minded people reproduce quickly or without purpose. 30+ states had laws in the 20th cent to sterilize mentally undeserving from that
