Post you in another country.

This is me being very brave, a while back: last minute trip for a job interview, didn’t get it, and very much needed something as I was done with my PhD and had no job lined up. But I still went around to see the things. It worked out okay, dear one.

Anyone know what’s up with Bleed from Within taking “Fracture” (album) off of streaming?!?! It’s still on bandcamp though.

Started here today. Been a while—and I’ve always gone back and forth on Gojira in general. But it’s working for me today!

Only this administration could have found a way to effectively tax ordinary people and transfer that money directly to corporations.

Spent the last part of the evening with a gin and tonic and doing some lovingkindness meditation. A nice way to wrap things up.

Anyone I know done any meditation / mindfulness teaching certification? Been thinking about that some and curious about people’s experiences.

Photo of me in suit and tie (!) with my dissertation committee: Karen Baker-Fletcher, Bruce Marshall, J. Kameron Carter (virtual), and Joerg Rieger

Oh damn, nine years ago I successfully defended my dissertation: “Opaque Redemption: Whiteness, Theology, and the Politics of the Human.”

Never revised it for publication or anything but such a formative experience and group of people.

Opaque Redemption: Whiteness, Theology, and the Politics of The Human Who can save us from redemption? Some of the earliest accounts of the African slave trade claimed that slavery saved those marked by the “perdition” of soul, mind, and body (G. E. de Zurara). Postcolo...

I wouldn’t recommend reading it, haha. But it is. The chapter “Against (White) Redemption” has some lines of thinking that have really stayed with me and is something I published separately in the journal Political Theology.

Started with some depressing black metal and that is not a helpful vibe for me today. Palette cleanser: the new Inferi. Because it fuckin rules.
