There's no way we could switch to the planned economy you'd need to radically overhaul the country and radically rebuild the state capacity we spent decades destroying. Imagine trying to run a wartime economy when your primary goal is making sure venture capitalists can still profit from water.

Told my wife to have dinner ready at 6 or I'll obliterate her entire civilization.

So anyway, she now charges me a fee to use the bathroom that used to be free, and I didn't get any dinner, but I'm pretty sure I won that exchange.

NASA isn't why the US doesn't have universal healthcare, or a social safety net. The US doesn't have those things because politicians with the power to provide them choose specifically not to (with varying levels of support from voters). Enthusiasm for human spaceflight doesn't drive that choice.

Three kisses to anyone who can dig out the scene in Veep where Selina talks about the horrors of war to a Marine dressed as the Easter Bunny. It’s out there somewhere.

I love hot cross buns at easter. But if they changed the name to Hot Cross Arseholes, it would put me right off them. So come on bakers, please don't change our buns! Alex Du Singe, Lincoln

You have to feel sorry for James Dyson. Imagine buying up 33,000 acres of farmland to avoid tax, only for Labour to then close the loophole. We need more patriots like him, who drive up farmland prices and vote for Brexit then fuck off to Singapore.

Not so much an interview, more a duel by metaphor. Brilliant!

“Beneath the ostentatious carpet bombing of spurious references, it seems to me that Cummings is . . . the embodiment of a system so exasperated with itself that it put its most furious critic at the centre of power . . . “
