Utah WBB picks up a commitment from Laia Conesa, a guard from Kansas
Lani White was selected No. 45 overall in the WNBA draft tonight.
She becomes the latest Utah player to be drafted since Alissa Pili in 2024.
(Gianna Kneepkens was also draft tonight, so she's kinda in there, too)

It’s time for you to buy stock in WR Creed Whittemore, who is having a standout spring.

Before football practice today I did a podcast. A lot of what I talked about was reinforced tonight at practice.

Nate Johnson is a legit wide receiver making some serious plays out there. I’m ready to crown him as one of the top players in spring camp.
Byrd Ficklin had options after last season, but the QB felt he was best served to “tag team” with Devon Dampier at Utah.
A look at how he decided to return and what his role will be this season.

Utah forward Chyra Evans announces on IG that she’s returning for another season.
It’s the first official announcement for the women’s team.
… All that stuff he has fully bought in and Bump has done a heck of a job with him; and to Nate's credit, what a great mindset he's coming to this offseason with, and he's seeing the benefits of it.”
On Nate Johnson: “That’s another guy that's fully bought into being a wide receiver, that's making play after play. Was really inconsistent last year in terms of catching the ball, in terms of doing the things that I think he was asked to do, in terms of finishing routes and being a hand catcher. …
Scalley said there is no separation with his offensive line because he doesn’t believe in guys thinking they’re set in roles until the week before a game. A depth chart means nothing until the week before because he wants guys hungry to fight for their spots.
Morgan Scalley on Creed Whittemore: “Love the progress. Creed's a guy I’ve got to shout out because that's a guy that has made a ton of progress. He's leading by example … really proud of that kid.”
Morgan Scalley said the playbooks are pretty well installed and it’s now just cleaning everything up, which will come.
Morgan Scalley said things are “so far so good” but he wants to see a lot more improvement all around. Said it’s mostly situational stuff that needs to improve — how the offense or defense is going to change based on different looks.
The defense is really making life tough on Utah’s offense
Rock Caldwell had some great reps on defense at nickel and is going to be a standout player. He had a great PBU to stall the offense.
The corners have really jumped out the last two practices we’ve seen.
From practice today:
Nate Johnson and Creed Whittemore making noticeable strides in their improvement. They look really solid as WRs.
Braden Pagen had a great over the shoulder one-handed catch for a TD at the sideline.
🎙️PODCAST: We're diving into the Red Rocks and what happened this weekend.
It was an emotional weekend, so let's try to unpack everything (or at least some of it).

It's not how it works, but the Red Rocks had a higher score than Arkansas (197.450) and Stanford (197.225) in the regional final. Both teams will be in the final 8 for nationals.
The Red Rocks scored enough to get there, just found themselves in the "death" regional.
Jordan Chiles closes out the Corvallis Regional with a perfect 10.0 on floor. Such an incredible gymnast who's going to be missed in the sport.
FINAL: After 49 straight seasons, the Red Rocks have missed their first-ever nationals appearance after competing in the toughest regional of the season.
UCLA: 197.725
Minnesota: 197.625

Utah: 197.500
Alabama: 197.175
And the streak comes to an end for the Red Rocks ...
They fought tough, but Minnesota was on a tear tonight and knocks Utah out.
Avery Neff closes it out with a tiny hop forward, but everything else was great.
Ashley Glynn with a really big step forward on vault.
An Avery Neff 10.0 to closeout vault would do wonders for the Red Rocks.
Have we had a tighter finish?
Makenna. Smith. Stick.
Beautiful vault for the senior. Will it be her last routine or will the Red Rocks advance? It's gonna be close.
Zoe Johnson with a step back on the dismount. The Red Rocks are going to need to get 9.90+ in the final 3 gymnasts to have a chance
Ella Zirbes with the stick in the 2nd spot. That's a much needed vault after Camie Winger sits down in the first spot.
The Red Rocks with a massive 3rd rotation and now they're in 1st going into the final rotation
