Trans people exist, and have throughout human history. Lately trans folk have been targeted for marginalization, persecuted and preyed upon, subjected to the worst indignities humans can dream up, including being murdered with impunity. The ongoing attempted erasure of trans people should serve as a warning to any minority, particularly those of us in the LGBTQ+ community. Exactly like gay rights, trans rights are human rights. We might try to fool ourselves that we're somehow separate, but we're in the exact same boat, being targeted by the exact same people. I'm not trans myself but I know several people whose lives include this unique, dangerous journey. Trans Day of Visibility doesn't only include trans people, it should be a day of visibility for Ttans allies worldwide. If you are a trans person, we see you. We value you. We will fight for you.
