Adriana E. Ramírez chronicles Colombia’s history by mining her own family’s - The Boston Globe Other countries have nicknames for their rough periods. But nobody is quite as direct as Colombians, who dispense with any pretensions by simply calling the decade from 1948 to 1958 exactly what it was: La Violencia.

The @bostonglobe.com calls @aeramirez.bsky.social Adriana E. Ramírez's THE VIOLENCE "novelistic, edifying and consistently entertaining" in their new review:

I wrote a book about a war that solved nothing. Or as the inimitable Cleyvis Natera put it, "a timely, critical work of nonfiction that illuminates so much of what we're living through today."

I wrote a book. It comes out April 14. It’s about useless wars and betrayal.

Also, it’s good. Like, really good.

THE VIOLENCE | Kirkus Reviews A family’s experience is bounded and warped by the violence and instability that overtook Colombia in the last half of the 20th century.

"Drenching the family narrative with the frail complexities of love and memory, Ramírez decouples it from Colombia’s stereotypical violence to claim her own piece of its story." Read Kirkus Reviews on THE VIOLENCE by @aeramirez.bsky.social, out this April! www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews...

This morning was by far the best snow of the week in #Pittsburgh. Just after sunrise a heavy band of snow came through the city and it created some magical scenes from pretty much everywhere. I was on the West End when it started and just before the city disappeared I was able to capture this view.
