Super excited to be able to share the work I presented at #FSNNA24, a huge thanks to @fsnnorthamerica.bsky.social & @journal.transformativeworks.org for this opportunity!! 🎤✨

Happy Birthday, Taylor Swift!!! 🎉🎵🎂 (art by #lucyclaireillustrations) #Swiftie
A photograph of Chloe with her MACL thesis supervisors, having just successfully completed her defence presentation. Chloe is in the centre, wearing a white t-shirt, black jeans & black and white cardigan. Amber is stood to Chloe's left, wearing a black blazer with matching trousers. Eric is stood to Chloe's right, wearing a navy blazer, pinstripe shirt, brown trousers and stripy bow-tie. Chloe is also holding a bunch of flowers.
Well, I've arrived at the end of my MACL era! 🥲 I'm excited to share that I successfully defended my MA thesis on #TaylorSwift & monstrous femininity yesterday!! 🎓🥳 I really cannot thank my supervisors and cohort enough - this programme is so special and I'm sad to be saying goodbye so soon.
No actually, I got super lucky in that regard! I was able to hear all of the musical numbers without much audience interruption 😊
A photo of the screen outside of a cinema theatre, showing that the next film playing is Wicked.
A photo of the poster (Chloe) stood with a cardboard cut-out display advertising the new Wicked film. Chloe is wearing a teal jumper, black leggings and white trainers.
I saw Wicked last night and it was so phenomenal that I’m afraid I will be making it my personality for at least the next 6 months! 💚🩷
Former Twitter researchers, and social media researchers in general, take note!

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.
A screenshot from the game “Mastermind” on the Swift Alert app. The screenshot shows that the user guessed all three surprise songs on the piano correctly, scoring +57 for the mash-up and +21 in bonus points.
Heading into this final week of writing with a perfect mash-up guess for the first time!! Hoping this a good omen for getting this thesis done… 🫶🥳
So we beat on, boys against the milkshake, borne back ceaselessly into the yard
I am still sick so not much to share this TDoR, but you can read the stories of some folks we lost this year. As a historian, for me it is most important to connect with stories.

Also just fyi I’m gonna be real annoying about Taylor Swift for the next few weeks and probably forever
Imma need some of you to think about thriving out of spite. I had big plans for 2025 and I’m definitely not gonna pre-derail them for likes of Elin and Tromp. I’m getting more involved. Loving harder. Writing hornier. Having more fun. I’m gonna be so kind to my neighbors, bitch.
🌟✨ Exciting News! ✨🌟Feminist Media Studies has officially migrated to Bluesky! 🎉 We are thrilled to continue fostering critical conversations and building community on this new platform. Be sure to follow us here and help us spread the word by sharing our page. 💬💜
A happy shift from breakfast to tea! Thank you to all the writers, artists, MACL students and professors, librarians and kids lit enthusiasts who came out to our Fall Tea on this blustery day and congratulations to the Ron Jobe Scholarship recipients and Sheila Barry honours and winner!
A photograph of the two recipients of the UBC Ron Jobe Scholarship, alongside Dr. Ron Jobe himself. Pictured are two women wearing black dresses and holding bunches of pink roses, next to a man in a red sweater.
Beyond grateful to be selected for the Ron Jobe Scholarship, and delighted to get to celebrate with my MACL friends & @yvrchildrenslit.bsky.social this weekend! A huge thank you to Ron and VCLR for continuing to support students in this programme!! 🎉🌷
Carefully saving the deleted section in a new document, just in case I need the worst paragraph ever written for future work
pumpkin patch frogs
Put “genre isn’t a boundary, it’s a description of what a story is doing” on my tombstone (but put “doing” in italics so the emphasis is clear)
I’d love to be part of this when it happens! 🫶☺️
That second idea sounds fascinating, would love to hear more if/when you develop it! 😊
wikipedia "see also" section: screaming (in music), screaming (in general)
Bluesky last month vs Bluesky today
(Also it’s absolutely criminal that #MyLadyJane got cancelled and I don’t think I’ll ever stop being furious about it 💔)
Finished reading #ThePairing by #CaseyMcQuiston last night and realised that all my favourite media so far this year has been horny, unhinged and unabashedly queer. I feel like there’s a research project in there somewhere! 🤔
I made a whole playlist to listen to while writing my thesis which features a lot of angry Taylor, if you want to check it out! 😊 music.apple.com/gb/playlist/...

#AcademicSky, let's get to know each other! Quote this & tell me: 1) a project you are working on & 2) an odd idea/theory you aren't working on but keep thinking about.
1) fangirls as theorists of monstrous femininity
2) pop concerts as collective embodied writing
she started a haka to tear up their proposed changes to the indigenous treaties bill and the whole thing got pushed out what a legend
so we moved to bluesky
